    Hey guys

Just pulled the timing belt off and left intake cam gear to replace a leaking seal.
Though the gear itself has a lip in it which is the real cause of the leak. Can I simply get a few thou machined off the gear for a new surface to seal up??

    Thanks Matt

No, you have to buy a REDI SLEAVE from the bearing shop. This slips/bangs over the bearing surface and being thin gives the seals a new surface to run on. Easiest is just get a new used gear to put in.

This happens when the seals have gone hard and eat into the gear surface. Happens to the crank shaft as well when the rear main goes hard.

Definitely not the gear - nope doesn't turn seprately. Got another gear to put on with new seals, hopefully no leaks and hopefully no chatter from it either.
