Thought I might share my good news since in all my reading and all my attempts at doing it myself nothing worker until yesterday when I tried this..

Ive had no power steering for months because I just couldnt loosen the pump no matter what I did and haven't had time to take it to someone to get the belt replaced..

After getting over feeling like I was steering a truck I had another go at it.. I figured if the pump wasnt going to move its time for a different approach.

    1. Remove fan
    2. Put belt on pump pulley completely
    3. Wedge belt as much as you can onto crank pulley from the top first and push as many ribs over the pulley lip as possible. It should be on tight enough to already grip the pulley (push it in with a flat head like trying to squeeze on a bike tyre)
    4. Make sure nothing else is in the way of the front of the engine and give it a quick crank with the key (screw trying to turn the crank by hand)

If the belt was already on tight enough then the ps belt should now be installed without the need to try and bother with trying to screw around with the pump.

The hardest part of this was removing the fan :/

*not sure if stretching the belt that much is ideal but it worked
*for the love of god don't have anyone hold the belt in place if you are going to crank the engine.. ive heard this happen before with other belts and people losing fingers.. wtf!
*is easy to do just by yourself but if possible always ask an adult to help you if you are unsure of what you are doing...

The belt should really be walked on by hand (ie one hand feeding onto the pulley with a screwdriver, the other turning the crank) to avoid damage to the belt.

    Deja vu!
This is exactly the same way I had to re-fit my new P/S Belt, several weeks ago(they are absolute Bastards to install).
Strange how that(and several other similarly frustrating issues)are NOT mentioned in the FSM.:br:

There was a notorious member in Geelong who's not so smart helper tried this method with a twist. He held pressure on the belt while yelling out to the guy in the drivers seat to crank the motor . There was blood and guts every where  Stupid dumb arse attempt that ended in a finger going west . Some people just should stay in bed as they are a health hazard to themselves and a waste of oxygen.
