Injectors

Hey all

I had gotten myself a 300zx and its the non turbo model.. but was advised by the previous owner that its got twin turbo injectors in it as apparently they were told the car would run better but found out it wasnt... as too much excess carbon has been getting on the spark plug after a while.. would this cause this issue?? not sure if changing fuels or whatever would be better or should i go to standard injectors

 

Won't be carbon, just too much fuel!

Change them out to normal NA ones and it will run 100 times better.

 

yeah true.. do you know how much a mechanic would charge to do it

 

its driveable and sounds alright still but will it do any major damage?

 

Won't do major damage. Just use more fuel than it has to and foul your oxygen sensors.

so i should be able to get it tuned??? or do i still need to replace it.

 

Yes, you could get it tuned. Would be much cheaper to change the injectors if you can do it yourself.

 

yeh not a really big person about changing injectors on my first 300zx.. might see how much to get tuned and just explain to the mechanic whats the go is.. they might be able to do something to calm it down and not have excess crap on the spark plug

 

An NA will run extremely rough on TT injectors, to the point where the car is undriveable.

What colour are your injectors?

 

not quite sure what colour, well the car has been driving well up hills, open road etc

 

n/a injectors are suprisingly hard to get as 1 of my customers found out

 

I have 3 sets, 2 sets have been cleaned and checked, refitted to rails with new o'rings.

 

how much you looking at for it cause i got offered a set for $170

 

I would be pretty confident your car has not got TT injectors in it. Have someone look at it to see what the issue is before you spend money on things you may not need.

 

well the people i got it from said that they stuck TT ones in.. why else would my spark plugs be getting crappy shit around the spark plug

 

What sort of crappy shit?

What's your O2's like? Had conzult on it yet?

 

Could be anything from a dirty air filter, vacuum leaks, o2 sensors, badly set tps etc.

 

cause if it was TT injectors, that would make the car not even start would it?
