My engine is running like crap (see my other 2 topics...)

I have just has reinstalled my injectors after having them cleaned and flow tested. As best I can tell 3 of them are dead!

After they were cleaned they were sitting on the shelf for a month or so, as this is how long it has taken me to carry out the entire plenum pull and reinstallation etc.

NOW my father tells me that when he had injectors cleaned they told him to reinstall and run them within 24 hours to prevent them corroding up.

Has anyone else been given this advice?

Has anyone had an injector seize up after being cleaned?

I spoke to the guys who out sourced the cleaning and they did not think this was a problem...

    Thanks.

    yeah

I've heard of that, I guess it depends what kinda fluid was last in the injectors. I wonder if you could squeeze the fuel return line in short bursts to increase the pressure enough to clear them. Of course it might also blow up your Z, try it and let us know which it is!

depends on what they used to clean them. Most services such as(AS NEW),who have second hand injectors for resale, use there own mixture-lubricant to increase shelf life off the injector,( could be sitting round for mounths before there sold)and they dont have many problems! Ring the place that did your injectors and find out what lube if any, they filled them with after the test and clean.

Ohh yes. I've had a set on spare injectors handed to me by an owner I did a plenum pull for who was assured by the previous owner that they had been cleaned etc and had been on a shelf for a couple months...

I didn't want to install them without getting them recleaned and when tested - sure enough three were 100% blocked and the others 50%ish blocked.

A quick reclean fixed that. My advice. Don't stuff around and at least get them flowtested...

Some services run paraffin oil through the

injectors after they have been cleaned and flow tested If they are installed and run that day, every thing is usually fine, but its a not a good idea to leave the injectors sitting round for much longer than this because paraffin will slowly solidify.

    actually

there are mobile 'in car' injector cleaning services, I don't know what they do exactly, but maybe try calling them before another plenum pull. I think they can do some kind of basic comparison flow test.

Dont know if an ultrasonic toothbrush cleaner

would work, but even if it did, a flow test really should be done, which involves a spray patern visual check, as far as i no this can only be done with the injector out!
