Whether this would work or not... now yet to be seen!

    ******************************************

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN AUSTRALIA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR ASS" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL ON THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 22nd A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF AUSTRALIA SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

thanks, grant .. i for one will be spreading the word as widely as

possible .. and i think that this is an area where the forum, as an entity, should be taking a proactive role in representations to state and federal governments, petrol producers, consumer affairs associations etc .. !!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

    bah, fuel should be expensive

Sorry, but maybe if it was expensive then people would develop and use alternative energies. When the last of the oil is used for petrol, there goes a truly unique resource, of which petrol was the least important thing it was responsible for.

    agree with u there

people don't realise how many other applications oil has, and how screwed we'll be without it.

we've had it too good for too long, as far as petrol prices go. time for the alternative energies to get some $$weight behind them.

still, the boycott is an interesting concept.

They tried it a couple of years ago...

Well at least in NQ. Didn't work. People still buy on that day, or as azzuro and chino said, they day before/after. So those days will be bigger money makers for them than usual.. Doesn't that basically cancel out the boycott.
    Anyway, its only money! :p

People could compensate for 1 day

ie fill up the day before or day after. In order to work better, people would have to not drive on that day (so no oil is being consumed). To make it work even better, try doing it for a week!

Not sure how they would choke though. They could just send of their barrels to China or something who is also becoming a major player lately and a reason oil prices have gone up (supply not meeting demand).

Lots more people are converting to LPG now which is a much cleaner, better, higher octane fuel anyway and its only around 45cents per litre. People are also buying motorbikes/scooters and hybrid cars, which should be cleaner and compensate for all you people gutting or removing your cats! :p

But the all important question....What alternative energy could the ZEDS run on without sacrificing massive amounts of power or reliability

Some *minor* issues with this theory

Please feel free to pass this on to the intelligent individual who sent this to you initially, and so on...

    1) Petrol stations have tanks. Tanks store petrol. Oil companies wont be affected. They will continue to deliver as per usual.

    2) I am pretty sure that oil companies only deliver to each station weekly (at least most stations anyways). So really, you would have to boycott them for a whole week. Which no one is going to do.

    3) The name 'stick it up their arse day' is not going to convince me to support someone's cause.

    4) This figure has NOT been calculated. You lie. And you are an idiot - How exactly do you calculate that 'oil companies will choke'. Maybe my calculator is missing the choke button? Moron.

    5) How are they going to make a net loss of $4.6 billion? They don't sell that much fuel in a damn day. And even if the fuel is not consumed today, I doubt that it will be stale and undeliverable for the inevitable buying spree that would follow this stupid strike. Any spoilage + wasted labour/leasing costs are not going to total BILLIONS of dollars for one day. Quick, I better jump in my car and drive around before my fuel goes bad!

    6) Maybe you should consider spending the time wasted typing this email on writing to your local Member, to ATO and to Treasury. Hell, write Howard and Costello as well. Since excise is the major cost of fuel to the consumer, and is something that is controlled by the public (via our lovely representational system of government), it is therefore something you can 'effect'.

    7) Thanks to the obscure laws of supply and demand (which you may have heard of on Channel V or Today Tonight), all you are going to do with this is INCREASE the petrol price. When the fuel companies figure out that you are boycotting them on a particular day, what do you think they are going to do with the price on the days preceding and following the proposed boycott? Thanks to your artificial increase in the demand for fuel, the price will increase... which along with the increased quantity of fuel purchases should make them (the oil companies, not you) a nice little pile of money. Well done, you just shot yourself in the foot.
    8) Learn the difference between 'affected' and 'effected'. And don't type in all caps.

    9) I wish I knew the person who wrote this email so I could print it out and beat them with it.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

I only fill my car once a fortnignt... which of the other 13 days

should I nominate as my boycott day?

The price of fuel is relative

You should see how much they pay in England.

Which is why they drive 1- and 2-litre buzzboxes or deisels

Mind you, some of the current turbo deisel sedans have some real get-up-and-go!

Sounds like a good idea at first, but there are some big holes...

Ie we are still going to use the same volume of petrol that week, so unless they pour the same ammount that would have been used over the pavement than they will most likely lose nothing.

Furthermore, lets think about how screwed we would be if they decided in retaliation to close all petrol stations for the week following 22sep. While I realise this would never happen because they would never turn down money, the idea of the point is to show you that as much as they need us. we need them too =(
So Im affraid I will be ignoring this whole thing too

it goes in the box with the emails about hotmail closing your email account if you don't forward their email, and the little boy in oblakciZstan who gets 5c for every person you forward the email to.

so the answer is sit on your fat arse, do nothing, and enjoy getting

screwed for years to come ????... sorry, but your intemperate effort at an expose is riddled with as many analytical errors as you claim to reveal .. with your grossly negative attitude, i couldn't be bothered pointing out the obvious inadequacies in your post .!!

I'm enjoying the higher prices I drive for a living and there is definately

less traffic on the road and my pay is linked to CPI.

I remember a while back an email about boycotting BP

which would eventually make them drive their prices down. Although the idea itself had more merit than what is currently being suggested, no one took it seriously and life went on. Apparently one of the reasons the fuel price is so high is because demand is greater than supply so if we go and do this thing, it's a some relief for them. Lets face it people, we need fuel like we need food and water and for me personally, I like to drive my Zed than have it look pretty in my garage.
