Immobilizer woes

    Hello.
I finished work tonight, all set to drive home, only to find that my immobilizer doesn't seem to be responding =[
    Here's the gist:
-Car is locked and armed. Press button on remote key fob, LED indicator on fob comes on, but car doesn't respond (no indicator flash, no alarm bleep)
-Unlock the doors with the key, the alarm goes off.
-Try to start car, alarm goes off, starter motor doesn't crank, dash lights come on.

So it looks like the key clicker thing can't communicate with the car. I thought it was the battery on the clicker as the LED light was pretty dim, but I replaced them and the LED light is brighter but it still doesn't work.

It's almost definitely not the car battery, and I've checked the terminals, they're connected very securely.
It's also not my button-pressing ability. I've pressed it every which way, hard soft and for extended durations, and even with the casing off the clicker.

The car is a '94 Aus-spec, I believe the alarm is factory because it just seems to be, but I've no idea what sort of alarms these cars came with.
I believe there is some sort of override code you can use to get the immobilizer disabled. But my manual has no information at all on the alarm or immobilizer.

Thanks in advance :) Really don't want to have to leave it sitting there more than one night =[

I'm not sure but my 95 aus spec was fitted with an immobiliser but it had a box under the hood with a key lock to disable the alarm. I cannot confirm but i dont think the 300zx came with immobilisers but have central locking.

True, I have the key and can disable the alarm, but I don't think that will let me start the car.

Its worth a shot, i tried disabling the immobiliser altogether with the key and it still starts, not sure if its the same for your immobiliser but it should work

I will give it a shot, in the morning when I head back down there. With any luck they're connected :)

IIRC the original nissan alarm key fobs looked like this. I was always under the impression that the oem alarm control unit was in the footwell with the ecu and speaker was fitted under the battery tray (like in usdm cars). If it has an oem alarm there should be a relay or fuse for it in the fuse box.

I have seen quite a few aus spec's (including mine) fitted with 'repeller' brand alarms which I think may have been a dealer option back in the day.

    Time to replace the alarm....

Also sent you a pm with a suggestion to get it going

Thanks everyone, got it going. A friend helped me re-wire the ignition wires to by-pass the immobilizer so I could get it home. Turns out it's aftermarket :)
