In the past I've noticed that my bonnet doesn't line up with the passenger side fender. At the time I assumed that it was just fouling on something in the engine bay. So with the engine out I closed the bonnet and it was still out of line. Closing the bonnet with me in the engine bay I felt around and had a look and couldn't find anything that was fouling. That's the drivers side, it fits fine. Those 2 are the passenger side. As you can see there's a sizeable gap. Any ideas on either how to fix it or what the issue might be?
Either the bonnet is bent, front left guard is bent or the body is out of alignment. If you can find another bonnet try that first, failing that try another guard. If body needs aligning might be a good chance to find another shell.
on top of that - depending on how your bump stops for the bonnet are set - you could also be suffereing from the dreaded "someone jacked the car up on the lower radiator support" issue
You can find the specs for body alignment on slide BF42 of the factory service manual. https://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi
Someone has jacked it up under the lower radiator cross member and bent it. That pushes the bonnet latch upward and causes your issue. You have to pull the radiator and belt the cross member back down with a hammer and a pce of wood to get it straight again.
