Does anyone have any thoughts on how easy/difficult it would be to replace an ignition switch in a tt?
If you mean the key barrell I don't think it should be too hard at all.. Remove steering wheel covers and the barrell assembly comes off the steering column with a screwdriver, should then just be a matter of cutting or undoing the wires (not sure which) soldering the new barrell in.* *never done this before but just looking at it the above would be my guess.. -Martin
Not that easy.. You need to drill out the blind head bolts. I wouldnt recommend screwing around with the ignition barrel assembly unless you had a good reason to its not a job for the light hearted
Just spoke to David (he's at the factory playing with cars and I'm at home) and he said that sounds perfect to him and he said thanks a million for the response
we actually just have to replace the switch at the back of the barrel, which is just held on by 1 screw, we managed to remove it from the donor car, which has no dash (ryan's car) but we weren't sure how to get it into ours, which has the dash in place...whether we need to give it to the mechanic or not????
thanks so much for that......these 300's are so intimidating mechanically. david can do pretty much anything on our 240z, 260z, and even the 280zx's that we have, but our 300's terrify us!!!!!!
Ahh yea if its just the switch it should be ok, but a bit fiddly, there is a tiny screw that holds the switch on the back of the barrel.
