Withoutout the AAC connected my Z idles fine at 750-800
With the AAC connected it jumps up to 1700 and stays there.

    searched, can't find any info.

do you have a leak in the hose that goes from the AAC to the plenum?

In the tech section there is a write-up on setting the idle. Start there, and see if you still have the same issue. The service manual on page EM-23 shows the correct method for throttle body adjustment. It might be possible that your bases idle is set via the throttle plates not the 'soft idle' in the ECU. Check it out.

Idle should be 700rpm iirc. on na manual with aac disconnected. If your idle is fine until you plug in aac, then your aac is probably faulty ;)

It seemed to be working beforehand.

Before I adjusted the TPS is was at 0.33 and it would idle normally.
1200 when cold then 800 when warm.

Now I've adjusted the tps to .46 it seems to just sit at 1.7k when warm.

Has something been changed in the past to compensate the bad tps setting?

Did you check the resistance for the AAC? Solenoid could be dead / faulty... Also while you're at it, might as well check the other idle related components.

    AAC should be ~10 Ohms
    FICD around ~22 Ohms
    Air Regulator around ~75 Ohms

Start the engine, disconnect the grey plug on the TPS for 10 seconds then reconnect, that should solve your issue. This resets the "on idle" switch value in the ECU.
