I haven't been overly active on the forum or making it to the big events for a little while so I thought id give a little update on what has been happening to the zed in the last couple of months.

First big job was over the Christmas break. With Simonzx's help we fitted a RPS lightweight flywheel and 6 puck clutch. While we were at it we fitted a new rear seal and a Nismo needle roller input shaft bearing. Found out my engine mounts were stuffed when we were under there so some new ones were fitted. Drivers side was a real mongrel:mad: Because the aussie dollar was doing so well at that time I also picked up some aftermarket SMIC which were also fitted while the car was up. Cheers to and Caz and STS for the quick delivery on parts when needed.:)

Second biggie was a plenum pull in March. Plenum was pulled, under plenum bypass done, EGR removed, PCV's replaced and pickups relocated. Back of the engine is so much neater now. While the plenum was off I though I have a look at my suspect rebuilt smoking turbo and swapped it with a secondhand one thank to CrestaJohn. Which didnt solve the smoke problem. Problem later turned out to be due to a lack of balance pipe, which im sure your all aware of now.

More recent mods have been geared more towards racing at the sprints this year. Rear guards were rolled to fit bigger rubber and most of the rear interior has been removed. This week I fitted a NISMO gearbox mount a new center bearing and some polyurethane sway bar bushes. In an attempt to keep the engine alive longer at the track I have fitted an aftermarket oil cooler in place of the factory one. All brake pads were replace with "Racebrakes" brake pads which im curious as to how much difference they will make a high speed braking.

My final mod and the one im most happy with was fitted last night.

A Sparco Evo2 race seat. I took a quick run up springbrook this morning and I cant believe how much more you can feel what the car is doing. The seat holds you in real well and even though you bum isnt on padding its quite comfortable. The amount of feed back is amazing its almost as if your part of the machine.

So I've been busy an appologise for not been around as much as usual. I still z'love you all and will try to make more of an appearance in the future. (Unfortunately wont be making sunny coast cruise as I'm racing at QR the day before and car will still be in race trim):p

    Some Pic's for y'all.

If you like but I warn you it isnt friendly. Has some real nasty shudder if you dont take off right.

Through the floor with 75x50x3mm plates on the other side. Plus a spacer the cab at the rear mount, closest to the middle of the car to make up for the floor dipping there. Cant really take photos (but ill try) as there is bugger all room in there, its a real tight fit.:)

    6 puck max or street?

    Doesn't look like street.

It's strange that you are getting shudder. I'm running the max 6 puck and I can take off very smoothly.

So you didn't bother with rails then? I was going to try and adapt the standard rails if possible. My race seats will be in all the time and would like them adjustable (well as much as fibreglass fixed back buckets can be :p)

Nah Its a street, well thats what I ordered anyway. Shudder can be real severe. Apparently my exhaust bounces up and down when it happens. Thats why I changed the gearbox mount as there is and exhaust mount on it. Ive double checked the engine mounts as well (hand brake and letting the clutch out in 1st and reverse) and they are good. So problem has to be from the clutch.

Are you using a segmented flywheel?

I wonder if that has anything to do with it? A full face clutch would always have contact with the all the segments as its engaged but a puck may catch on them and cause the shudder....... Maybe:confused:
