Hi guys and gals, I just picked up this Z, The car is in very good condition with a perfect interior, It was originally an NA converted to a TT Engine has seen better days The previous owner said that his local mechanic told him that two cylinders are blown and not worth fixing it, to just sell it in parts. so i got the whole car and its in better condition then i expected... Not sure if its worth fixing. I have owned my yellow Z for seven years and have always wanted a red or a black one, so I would like to get it running, any suggestions? Here are some pics Thanks Ziggy Had to take that wing off
Good score, congratulations. Horny looking car. I think the rear wing suited it. Red 2+0's wear them well. I hope the engine is not too bad or the wallet is not too thin. I'm never game to ask people how much a thing cost, was it a bargain ? Please do something with the front bar before the more agressive forum members see the pics. I think they're all at the pub now but they'll be on your case in the morning. Plus they'll have hang-overs & shitty outlooks... Cheers & congratulations from Mick.
is "engine swap" to simple an answer? (if you really prefer red to yellow) Car looks mint. Sucks when a mech says "not worth fixing" when clearly, the body and interior seem very well kept. half of the Zeds around have shit interiors and are dented and falling apart and all the money goes on fixing/modding the engine. Pointless on a poor example yes. On a mint one like that, it's worth every cent. Make sure she's all straight and get to it PS: My other answer was something like "FFS... why do people buy ANOTHER zed when they've got one. LIVE A LITTLE and buy something diferent. There's heaps of other, BETTER cars to have in a life time" I mean both answers. I think i've got a split personality lol.
Strange engine conversion. Seems they put in a TT engine and custom fabbed some stuff, thats an NA radiator and unique intake pipes. I would be going over it all, seems like a backyard job to me. Not sure how the smaller NA rad will handle a TT engine. Need to do something about those indicators aswell, looks like theyve just been jammed in there. Good luck with the zed though. Edit: Also is it running an electric fan? I dont see a clutch fan or shroud. Going off the picture seems theyve moved the rad overflow bottle so the fmic piping will fit, poor cooling could be the source of your engine troubles.
fix her up man! good pickup IMO. good colour choice too btw with all the custom fab stuff you could either just dump another TT engine in or rebuild the existing. with the NA diff it'll be surprisingly quick too.
NA rads are bigger That cooler pipework is interesting! No clutch fan either, has it got a thermofan on it? What's wrong with the front bar? Besides the indicators being a bit weird.
That rear fin is a BOMEX old style one like mine. Rare as rocking horse shit. It suits a 2 seater perfectly. Its gonna look odd with no wing on it. BUT that custom piping looks great and way bigger than TT stock. Would have been keen to see how they routed it. If you got it cheap I reckon it was a bargain. Fix it Red zeds FTW
Thanks, the wing is still in perfect condition so i can just put it back on, the car doesn't fit under the plastic car cover with the wing on lol. Oh and yes the car was a bargain I lol when i first saw those indicators. Cheers Ziggy
Nice pick up! NOW!! .. Fix the front bar, take off those jammed orange crappy foggies And can you take more pics of the IC piping set-up KEEP the wing OFF!! looks much better
definately definately too good to wreck mate, drop another motor in and you will have another beautiful zed :zlove:
I never intended to buy another Zed, It was off a mate that wanted it gone from his property, So i made an offer and it was mine I have a Honda S2k, WRX and a lancer for my daily, but i still love my Zeds Ziggy
Ah an S2k, very nice you have good taste! Was thinking about buying myself one of these for my University 'graduation present' , how do you rate it? Especially in the twisties!
what bottle do they have hanging off the radiator, looks like the overflow bottle or window washer bottle has been relocated to make way for the custom piping... i really like that piping.. its different, gives bling to the engine
Yeah love the s2k, I have had it for only 6 months, it's nice to drive through the twisties but it is a bit bumpy and feels low to the ground, the flywheel is noisy when stationary and getting in and out is a mission. Not the most comfy either lol but faaark that V-Tech can scream Ziggy
i think your right, as the overflow hose leads to the lid of that bottle. which means no room for the shroud, i think they could have done a better job of relocating that or atleast joining the custom pipe to the oem pipe so they can keep the o/f bottle in oem position.
