Oh and to the people that say push the n/a over the cliff ""GROW UP""

ALSO n/a's CAN beat TTs ! i have seen it a number of times

And to all the TT guys that talk crap about n/a's GO BACK TO PUSHING YOUR BOOST BUTTONS :bash: AND LEAVE THE NA PEOPLE ALONE :nono: WE HAVE OUR OWN WAY OF GETTING POWER FROM OUR CARS THEN PUSHING BUTTONS :lame:

puts on flame suit and sprays fire retardant around the room....

Which begs the question to be asked..... has anyone ever considered using the commodore motor as a replacement for the Nissan V6 ????

    3.8 lit.....
    cheap as chips .......
    found EVERYWHERE .....
Narrower than the Nissan motor ( allowing easier access )
Higher motor height .... = bonnet mods
large amount of aftermarket motor "enhancements";)
could be updated to a supercharged motor later on :bow2:

It could well be a viable option for those on their P's with an upgrade being to the supercharged engine once a full ticket is obtained....

I cant see that it would be that much of an issue in transplanting in such a motor.....

picks up the fire extinguisher just to be on the safe side

    I like ur style :D
Good to see somebody else thinking outside the circle.
Ive had the same thoughts ,but christ i haven't told anybody
Those 3.8's are cheap plenty of room like u mentioned and CAPA do a few supercharged kits to suit http://www.capa.com.au/kits_holden_vnvr_v6.html,not to mention the aftermarket support for the holden V6 is huge ....they use that motor for heaps of different racing classes in the states.

Only problem i can think of for such a conversion is the size of the trannie ?
Im still tempted by this conversion for the missus's Zed but may leave it for a kit car futher down the road .....

    Regards
    Trev

Forgive my ignorance here, but isn't the N/A's advantage over a TT just in the diff? Therefore, fitting an N/A diff to a TT is the best of both worlds?

Much like yourself ..... its been in my mind for ages
But I always thought it may be too much of a taboo subject so never asked the obvious !

    For me ...
I started thinking about it some time back when my son decided on a zed for his first car and the availibility of a 2nd hand motor etc should it all end in tears mechanically.

The constant threads about upgrading from a N/A to TT on this forum ( and others) is quite high, so obviously the "performance upgrade" is high on the agenda for most P platers
What could be more simpler than pulling the N/A 3.8 ( once the conversion is done ) and slotting in a supercharged 3.8
[insert icon with a woody here];)

Damn sight easier than fitting a TT I'll bet ! :sorry:
and would most likely put quite a few TT's into the weeds too !

I dont think there'd be too many issues in using the commodore auto box..... it may well be better off when the wireing starts.... simple case of deleting the nissan gear and installing the 3.8 loom & ecu's

No doubt Castlemaine RodShop would have a bellhousing that would suit the 3.8 to the nissan box..... its the electronic side that may give grief !

the manual box ( if you can find one ) may present more headaces initally but once done......

and a 6 speed box ....... very

In QLD P platers can't drive a car with a mod plate for a performance upgrade. You may be able to sneek the bigger engine through but could cause hassles...

Single turbo the VG30DE and chuck the aircon, easy.

    yes and no !!

If you are driving a TT off boost on a twisty road you cant drive.

You should NEVER be under 4000 revs on a twisty road where you are trying.

Garbage NA/TT torque argument goes out the window.:nono:
