HI just asking who would prefer a Hardtop over a Targa? targas are good but they get leaks etc often??
targa for sure targa anyday, nothing like the wind blowing around u on a nice warm night, and mine does not leak !!!!!!!!! :zlove: :zlove:
just returned from a drive along the coast with my gf, its warm and sunny today. there's a slight breeze to take the edge off, and it couldn't be any better.... thank god but i bought a zed with targas. i had a slight leak at one stage but it just went away, think the rubber was getting caught on the wrong part or something. hardtop's aren't as common. i think if you can get a targa with no leaks, you'll be getting the best of both worlds. you definitely need targa shades though!!
Soft top After having driven Z31 and 280ZX targas for 3-4 years, I must say I much prefer the soft top. You get a different breeze round your head. Second best though is the targa, but it's awkward to continously fiddle with those tops and trying not to do any damage anything. I've broken 2 - First one i had standing up behind passenger seat, and it got jammed on the seat rails. Second one I forgot to do up the drivers top, so when my son drove off, it flew off after a kilometer or so. Gave him a bit of a shock. It's also a big temptation to take the tops off when the weather is fine (and get sunburnt) In a flat top there is no such temptation, just close the windows and set the climate control for your own little world.
I would prefer a hard top vs targa, as the body would be slightly stiffer and lighter = slightly better handling, but it would probably be poofteenths of a second we are talking about.
Not saying that I would prefer a hard top over a targa but as Fleet says the body would be stiffer. I remember a while back where stiffness was discussed and some people found that when they jacked up their cars on one side on the front that their doors didn't close properly. My car has been well looked over by previous two owners but when I jack up the car I can close my doors but their is definately very slight twisting. Targas on the other hand make the car more versatile in its use.
Targa any day. Went for a cruise up to Port Douglas last Wednesday with the roof off. Beautiful day, the wind in my hair, beautiful scenery along the Captain Cook Highway. Only thing I have to worry about is sunburn, I need to slap on more 15+ :zlove:
to targ or not to targ Have both but l really miss the targa when lm driving the other one so targa ....also the targa has never leaked on me
I have had both. Always wanted a targa, but my first one was a hard top. Nice car, but now I am happier with my current one, which is targa... I drive with top off almost all yr round... heater going in winter or at night... love it.
Luv my Zed and it's Targa Top It great cruising with the targa's off I have a hardtop with the targa's on and a covertable with them off.. Luv it!! :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
would prefer slick top but only cos it's lighter, I prefer the look of targas but don't drive with them off.. my targas have never leaked.
Targa's almost make the the car what it is! they are the best! for all mentioned reasons. maybe not the best performance wise, but as far as luxry and practicality go... just awesome. I don't understand why new cars these days don't use them, so many practical advantages over soft tops too :zlove:
