    not sure but..

what im thinking is.keep your custom plates, they dont have to be transferd or anything, you can have them and not have them on a car, you paid for them.but you will have to get new plates for the car before you sell it, and thats what the car would be transferd with?i dunno.....someone here might have experience with it and know how it all goes

First you re-register your car, then

you pay a fee for the RTA to "hold" your original plates until you need them.

This is how it works, you go into RTA>

with your current plates which you want to keep, they will issue you with new numbers plates and a new rego paper (you will be charged) which will reflect the new number plates,
They will ask you whether you want to keep the plates on hold and obviously you say yes, there is a charge of like 20 bucks or something for one year, and you have to pay it ever year while it is on hold.

Doesnt take long but PIA factor is about 7/10 :)

You download a form off the net, fill it out

and then thats all. If you know someones address you could steal their plates. You don't need to know anything but their name and address and do a bodgy sig as vic roads don't check up on it. I just recently done this. Only the buyer or person its being transferred to has to put their license number down. It costs like 80 bucks or something.

    Hi John....

It appears that may be a 2-3 years down the track when I get the TT. I have to decide now, if I'm going to settle down with something to show for the money I've earnt (meaning property), or am I going to show the Z and the work I've done on it. For the last 6 months and more I've been putting the Z in front :-Z, wel now it' time to put me in front.

So I've decided that the zed has to go. :`( I'm going to get the accident damage fixed. And any other issue looked at and repaired if required. So the buyer will know of any upcoming work that she may need. And they'll also get any parts I've bought. My mechanic is going to give it a full check up, inside and out, next monday.
So the plan, is to sell the zed and buy me a low cost car. I'm thinking of sticking with the nissan. The top choice right now is a 1993 Pulsar SSS - Jap spec. But I wouldnt mind a R32 skyline Gts either. So the car will be up for grabs late this year. :`( :`( :`( I'm gonna miss her big time...So I'll hold on to the replacement car for about 2-3 years and then, when I'm ready, I'll come back twice as strong with a TT Z. :D :YD :-Z

But no way in hell am I gonna miss the zed cruises...:D Even if I'm driving any other car...

R32 dont sound like a sensable choice.

But if you are going to be mature about this ...
6:9 do you need to sell the zed to obtain the deposit for a house:?) If you still have to payout the car then remember you will only be getting a couple thousand back if you sell the zed. If you own the zed outright then you could get about $16~k for the house deposit, though you will still have to buy a replacement car.

The other option (if :-Z) is to only use the zed on weekends and have a boaring "normal" car for weekdays [IMHO an older Ford Falcon could be a good choice given the cheap maintanance cost and parts availability ... Falcon/Commodore taxi is 50to1 in Syd].

Remember once you sell the zed it is going to be A LONG time before you get another one; because partners and other future responsibilities will prevent the purchase of a "toy" (but if you already have the "toy" then it is alot easer to keep then obtain).

"For the last 6 months and more I've been putting the Z in front , well now it's time to put me in front." .... but has someone been twisting your arm to spend money on your zed; if not then you have been putting yourself in front.

"settle down with something to show for the money I've earnt (meaning property)" ... but are these your words or those of your parents, family, and friends.

Investing in property is wise.:YD However..

I fail to see how selling the Z and buying a GTS-T will put you in a better financial position to purchase a property. The only exception would be if you found the GTS-T to be more reliable than your current car but even if that turns out to be the case, which in by no means guaranteed, the financial gains will be very minor when you look at it in relative terms.

Not a Gts-t. A R32 Gts. But my heart is set

on SSS. Affordable insurance and running costs. I can chuck in some unleaded fuel and not worry that the car is gonna ping!! And I can leave it parked when I go out (on the street) and not worry that it'll get boosted! And the excess will be low as well!

Sorry to rain on your parade, Mate, BUT>

if your a "numbers" man, check on how many Pulsar SSS's get "boosted" annualy, compared to the number of stolen Z32's. If that doesn't confuse you, check how many "high performance" Hyundai Excels get knocked-off. 8-} 8-} 8-} Car thieves are NOT very comfortable with "high tech" cars, they like something easy.:D :D I promise to "lay off" you, if you just re-think you decision. (Now I can't be fairer than that, can I :?) ).Cheers
