I think most people use the stock jack to lift the front, then use whatever jack you like to finish lifting the car. Otherwise you can get some custom ramps. I think a few of the lucky buggers here even have a hoist! :)

i love to own a hoist in my garage

that would be too sweet, does anyone know where to get those jacks that are really low profile you know the type they use in racing and what not:D

not worth it i just use my stock ones and jack it up onto wheel stands, i feel safe getting under it and there is no bulky jack in my way when im trying to get underneath the thing

i use a workshop quailty trolley jack

was about $200 fits under the jacking points behind the front wheels just but id say its one of the best tools i have in my garage, that and my compressor and air-gun works a treat for some jobs :D

but yu can gett the "cheaper" version here at Auto 1 for $250? i think, was going to get one the other day, instead got the std (steel)metal one. Its rated for 2.75t (steel), but is not quite as low profile.

The lowest(steel) big capaity jack is also at Auto1 still on special till end of the month/or 6th next month?
lowest lift is... will let u know when i get home. :)

The supercheap ones work once you fabricate an additional ramp for them to sit half way along the ramp. Just a bit of right angle steel and a welder does it.

    lifting your car, many ways

that house is bullshit, no1 would put that in their house/garage, looks more like a workshop just modded to look like a house on paint or something, hmm but to do it properly you got 5 options.

1 is to use stock jack and place it anywhere you really want to lift prefrably under the skirts on either side of the car, jack it up high enough to put ramps under it.

2 jack ur stock jack up enough to fit troy jack under and jack it up, or you could go out their and buy a nice and expensive like $1000+ light weight thin front jack which can get under cars that are like 5cm or so cm off ground, but their too price'y for my pocket, but are good.

3 you could buy a hoist you can get em second hand for about $1500+ or your could spend anywhere from $3000 for standard house electricity ones, or $4000+ for a 3faze one's but if ur gona get one you need a decent hight gardge as if u put ur car up u might hit the roof.

4 you can get bricks/pavers and build it up high enough so that you can drive it onto the ramps.

5 you can get ramps that are modded or custom made for lowered cars but also would be expensive, in theory.

the way i do it is get stock jack under side jack it up enough to get the trolley jack under their and then jack it up the rest of the way and then put the ramp under and lower it, if i dont want to do it that way i can get trolley jack under rear bumber and put it on the diff and hack the car up and work my way around the car from their, i have lots of tools and jacks as i like to fix my own cars, and others im not an experience mechanic but i like to learn, stuff paying mechanic to **** my car up, i can fix it my self if i stuff something up i can fix it as i know where i made the mistake, i know sounds bad but i havent ****** anything up yet.

good luck with that mate hope you find out what you hoping to acheive.

    yes...

I got mine from Burson.... Its a very low profile jack, the lowest I've seen. It nicely fits under the zed and allows me to jack up from the chassis rails on each side.

    Cheers

Sorry guys i forgot to check its low lift height when i was in the shed.
But, RE: those aluminium ulta low jacks, just make sure they comply to the relevant australian standards, AS2693:1993 from memory? (but dont quote me)

Also, when i was looking for these jacks (i wanted to go look at one, so i could photo copy it and copy it into CAD) i found out that between 1989 to 1992 the NOHSC Ausralia report identified 14 deaths resulting from vehicles falling from jacks. SCARY, considering a high of 12 deaths were reported in the year ~2003, with only 2 deaths in 2005 from sharks.

Also be careful of things like this
