HERPA freakin DERP! Compressor surge = short turbo life and incredible lag between shifts or off then straight back on throttle.

You are derp. Just stick a pair of SSQV's in there and be done with it.

Best way to dose anything is with syrup of figs

    I've never heard of this

Just read a few postings and I'm still trying to understand 'doseing' an engine.

Can I get a laymans version of this
Oh, PS from the postings of valued and learned forum members I'm not about to 'dose my 300zx"
I'm just interested in what it is?

    Cheers, Pete

    "Dosing" became a street term.
Its in principal the sound a car makes, usually related to a VL turbo or silvias (180 in particular). Also known as COMPRESSOR SURGE.

This is when off throttle.. the boosted pressure hits the closed throttle, and goes back through the system.. going backwards through a spinning turbine creating a CHOP CHOP CHOP sound as it slices up the air.
or externally heard as a Chuchuchu.

    NOT GOOD FOR TURBOS..

normally with our cars, there is a recirc system which stops the air going back through the turbos and puts it back into the system (circulation)
    or
a atmospheric BOV which vents the excess pressure to atmosphere.. (loud PSSCHT).

In general... dosing.. hat backwards, singlet wearing, cloths poorly fitted.
    dont do it LOL

This is dose Clicky . It's the noise of the boost passing back through the turbo when off throttle. It's Hektik!

Here is a more accurate description. SICK DOSE HERE BRO!

You know when some turbo cars go past they make the sound sututututu... This is "dosing"

You will also hear this from 16 year old wogs on a regular basis... For no reason:p:rofl:

    Genuine question here....

Does the turbo flutter work the same as dosing? as in does it damage the turbo? On my zed i have twin hks ssq's, but SOMETIMES it will flutter.... I think under high load, Same thing with my R32, it flutters but not on every single throttle off..

At the right boost and throttle, I could get mine to sound like a pigeon OR... bark like a dog lol! :D
Flutter and dose is the same thing.

    This is "flutter"

to the OP, the only reason you would want a doseing sound is to impress your friends. Get new friends. and a new car. suggest a VL.

i'd ask you to sell your 300 but you've probably already disgraced it with an electric turbo, spinners and a failside bodykit. please just burn it. each time a POS zed gets destroyed an angel gets its wings back and my resale value goes up. :zlove:

    seriously [TIS]

    Come on man, be nice.

Everyone's flaming this poor bloke, it was just a question...

If he posted up a picture of a beaten up Z, with spinners and failside, then bragged it was the best, then flame away.

On comes my flame suit now

lol fair enough i'm being a bitch.

OP i take it back, but i think you've got the hint that dosing isn't respected here. however if you take good care of your zed, maintain it right and chose tasteful performance mods for your ride, you'll be treated to a true driving experience that will give you a grin dosing never will (twisties!!!!) and a world's worth of support, advice and support from this forum.

your zed is not a slut, tramp or street whore. she's a princess, a dutchess, a queen. she will not accept being treated badly. yes she is more expensive to maintain. but she has true class, and will reward you in ways other lesser machines never can. my 2c.

Don't say something like that without proof to back it up. Extensive testing has concluded that it has no noticable effect on turbo life.

    Thats not what Garrett says...

And I've had mates kill turbo's very quickly running without BOV's, install BOV and no issues now

Surge IS bad for turbo's. I work with high speed turbo compressors worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Surge is bad, believe me. I have a $8k impeller at work that is now stuffed due to surge.
