I saw an ad for a 95 TT Z but I was just wondering what i should be looking out for, like any exterior/visual differences and any interior & mechanical differences. All that i have been able to find so far is that from 94+ the TT Z came with a different wing and the HICAS was changed from hydraulic to electronic. Was just curious because in the photos it has the old 'duck-tail' styled wing, though this could always have been changed depending on the ownders preference. Thanks for any advice.
easy to tell... One way is the date on the build plate, and to confirm it lift the decklid and behind the rear lights are plastic covers...pull em out and have a look on the back of em...they have the date the plastics where made stamped on them...add bout 6 months to that date and that'd be about when the car rolled out.
Re: easy to tell... Maybe check here if you want to see the visual differences.:zlove::thumbsup::zlove:
Bit off topic but... I thought that 96 was the last year that 300s were produced. The website on the post above has final model 300s bein produced between 98 n 00. Mind u i dont know much about 300s, but im slowly learnin..
Hi Aaron - 300zx were only sold in Aus up to 96 but in Japan production carried on until 2000. We all had to start learning sometime and there's a lot to learn about these cars!! Cliff
Lots to learn 2nded. This forum makes it all a little easier though. Lotsa knowledge floating around and good people too.
Production went up to 2000 in Japan?? If that is true, does anyone know any way at all we can bring in, say, a 1999 Zed? I ask because, well, I love my car to death and one day that '92 model will be too old to keep. I am sure I am not the only one here that would be interested. I actually production stopped in 1996, so was confused when I saw a "1998" model being sold at the NSW Edward Lee Jap Auto Centre. I have also seen some Thai sites with Zeds on it noted as 1999, 2000 models etc
You were wise to be confused by that particular "98 model"....... Edward Lee's often stock "confusing" Zed's.:thumbsdown:
Not possible to compliance late model Zeds at this time. But let's all hope that one day that will change. Cliff
There is a easy way ... pop the boot, remove the rear light covers, check the dots on the year and month table on the inside of the plastic covers, add six months onto the last dot, and you will have a good estimate of the year of production. The manufacture plate is sometime changed by some "bastard" car-salesmen. But they forget about the dates on the plastic. and if the plastic indicate the car is a lot older then advertised then either the car has had the plates changed or is there a good reason why the plastics were changed (e.g. car was in an accident, or gutted). Also a 95 model should have an air-bag (four spoke steering wheel) instead of the three spoke non-air-bag one.
Hmm I'm not so keen on this method any more I've seen too many times that this is not accurate, I don't know if the method is flawed or if cars have had the rear panels swapped around often in their life. Whatever the case I've found it to not always be 100% accurate. If anyone wants to know the build date of a car shoot me an email with the chassis number, I'll look up the build date. Ben
I still think the obvious difference between pre & post '94 is the HICAS... somebody is not going to go to all the trouble of changing the HICAS to try & con someone on a build date !
how can i tell... whether it is a hydraulic or electronic HICAS just by looking and driving the car? sry for the noob like question...i still gots alot to learn haha
