    Hi all,

Can someone please give me some advise on how to replace the rear bearings of my 300ZX.

There is a tech article on ttnet that I followed
    http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1006149&forum=technical&dtSearch=0
and it was most helpful. The procedure
is fairly straight forward, although you will need a large 36mm socket and a huge
breaker bar (I broke 2 in the process). The new bearing comes as complete hub
replacement, ie; both inner and outer bearings in a housing. You may need to replace the
inner bearing dust seal. It's dirty work so a degrease before you start is a good idea.
edit: you will need access to a press of some sort to fit and a grinder to remove
the old bearings, as they tend to stick to the axle. This takes a steady hand as you
do not want to score the axle to avoid the bearing spinnig.

Try Cresta, Amec or any Nissan dealer. Ask for the left/right rear wheel bearing hub.
Check the link for a visual. They cost at least couple of hundred+ each.:cool
PS: This was my 900th post, not quite a whore yet!!:zlove:

The LHS bearing can be used on the RHS if you are prepared to drill out a new hole for the locating pin (pretty easy). CnsZ has a stack of LHS one for cheap.

    HELP

    Hi,

I have been getting prices on getting the rear wheel hubs replaced and I quoted that they will get me the hubs, bur for $555 EACH! Now that is a bit ouch for me! One strange thing was that the guy from nissan said that they have to get a seperate bearing and hub, because the original hub/bearing had a lot of problems? Now I need suggestions? HELP PLEASE

Refer my post above and get bearings from Allied Bearings (Nerang or elsewhere). AMEC or Gavin Wood Autotech can do replacement or... DIY?

Another way if the bearing is stuck to the axle is to run a weld along the bearing and then split it with a cold chisel

I wasnt offering a bearing, I was offering a whole hub assembly. Its way cheaper and easier if you have a known crook bearing and are looking to get back on the road asap.
