    Semi paranoid question but..
I went out last night and couldn't help but notice that my (metal) gear knob was quite warm, the shaft was even warmer and when I went to get my remote out of the ash tray that whole metal compartment was warm to touch too.

Just wondering if this is normal? o_O I've had the zed for about 4 months now and I've never noticed this before.

exhaust is directly under the gearbox . So not unusual .

Especially if the cat heat shield is removed.

Yes, they do get warm, but check that all of the rubber seals on the hole in the floor which the shifter comes through are intact and seated properly. If they're torn or not sealing, they'll let in hot air off the exhaust.

I used to have a metal knob. It was too hot to handle so I got rid of it. :D

lol! thanks guys, I'll try to check those seals this weekend. If thats the case it'd probably explain why I haven't noticed the heat till now.

I was getting worried I'd have to check the transmission fluid or something

Yeah but that's because you probably should check to see if your gearbox has any oil in it :p
