Well, it's probably basic to a lot of people but I've been tearing my hair out over this (what's left of it...)

So far I have connected up positive manifold pressure to the FPR like so, and eliminated 2 of the aiv(?) hoses:

On the driver's side - the hose marked E runs towards teh front of the car, I think to a turbo pipe. The hose marked D runs to a T- section, one goes to a solenoid and the other to (what I think is) the boost gauge sensor. If I'm gettting rid of the AIV's, should I just run a single vacuum line to the boost gauge sensor? Or have I arsed this up completely? I think this lets me get rid of the massive vaccuum hose running along the back of the firewall and into the passenger fender well?

Finally, on teh passenger side, there are actually 3 hoses coming from under the headlight, marked A, B and C - two "normal" vacuum hoses and one thin one.

Hose A leads to a spigot halfway down the plenum, so I can just reattach that one. Hose B used to attach to a hard pipe under the plenum, which (I THINK) then ran to the back of the plenum and a small soft hose attached to teh back of the balance pipe. Should I run a new section of longer hose directly from the Carbon canister to the back of the balance pipe or what?
Finally, what the hell happens with the narrow vacuum hose, (marked as C?)

    nope I hadn't seen that...

THe problem is, I'm not trying to re-connect the system into it's factory location - I'm trying to do the PRVR/AIV/EGR bypass.

In retrospect, it probably would have been better to do them one at a time rather than attempting all three at once, but the plenum was off and I was optimistic.

I was hoping someone who had done it on their pre-92 TT already might be able to point out what should be connected where.

I studied the tech articles at length...

Call me dumb (I'm sure many will) but I still can't figure it out.

I got through the plenum pull, PCV valve/plumbing replacement, egr removal, water hose bypass etc etc using just the tech articles and forum assistance, but this part has just got me stumped.

I think the configuration of the engine bay is different because some stuff is reversed on US model.

Anyway, I had a look at all the tech articles on this site as well as Robo's site, and still can't figure out where to reconnect those couple of lines as per original post.

Anyway, the pics really are my last resort, I seriously can't figure out where these hoses connect up otherwise.

Wow, I'm trying to remember from when i did this but it was a little while ago. Can't remember with the drivers side but yes there is a vacc line that you hook up to run from the balance side to the factory boost gauge/sensor thing over near the fender.

I think I can help a little on the passenger side

    yes

Yes, or use a joiner to extend the one that's there.

I think it attaches under your passenger side TB?

    Rob, you are the man.

It will be with renewed hope and determination that I attempt to get this damn car started again.

As for the driver's side aiv air gallery (the one that is bolted to the d/s engine

bracket and has 2 parallel steel tubes) the thinner vacuum line that connected to the lower aiv tube connects up fairly conveniently to the little nipple under the d/s throttle body.

I'm just suspicous that that aspect of it is a little *too* convenient...

haven't you eliminated the air gallery (the two steel pipes) as part of your bypass?
