    Regarding the bankids HID sets.

Ok, so I've spent 2 weekends trying to install these HIDs to no avail.

My cables are too short I thought at first, but nobody else had a short cable problem, so I thought I was doing something wrong and tried a few more times.
Now I know my cables are too short unless anyone can prove otherwise with pictures.

So what I'm after, is anyone who has succesfully installed their HID sets successfully, can PLEASE show me pictures of the relay attached to the battery leading all the way to their ballasts in the stock airbox mounts, or if you didn't use the relay, pics of the ballasts mounted wherever.

The black battery terminal cable on my relay is about 1/3 the length of the red cable. One of my cables leading from one of my globes is about 50mm shorter than the cable on the other globe.

I have been racking my brain for solutions but falling short of anything other than cutting cables and extending them which is something I really really don't feel like doing.

I didn't use the relays. But I'll get a photo of my setup and post it.

    Mine fitted okay!

I mounted the ballast where the stock air box once was, I have POD filter.
I mounted them high up close to the radiator , One on each side bolted to the underside of the metal rails on each side of teh nose cone .
I ran the cables to each light by squeezing them through the gap between the intercooler piping and the radiator mounts, down though the gap where the fuse box is, this is the shortest distance that I could find.
I used the relay and placed it in the small gap between the intercooler piping and the fuse box. It jsut sites in there snuggly.
Then ran the red cable to the battery and earthed the unit with teh black wire to a bolt in the engine bay near fuse box.

    Sorry dont have pictures.
Should take some and post them.
Was fiddly but not hard to do.

    Hope this helps!
    Cheers Tim

I didn't use the relay kit for any of the 4 ballasts I have used.
I managed to squeeze the Low beam ballasts in behind the actual headlight Assemblies, but the high beam I installed on the FMIC support bracket. This necessitated extending the "output" wiring of the ballast.

    Not a biggie.

Biggest actual PITA of the H1 install is the modification of the bulb holder to retain the bulbs in the reflector housing, and having to take off the hard pipes to gain access to the back of the headlights.

I am sure they call them hard pipes, because they are hard to get off when they have been on the car for a while  :bash:

Wait a minute.... The black wire off the relay is just an earth? For some reason I had the idea in my head it needed to be hooked up to the negative terminal on the battery.....

If that's the case, it SHOULD reach now with the relay if it's just an earth.:bash:

    negative terminal...

the negative terminal on the battery is essentially the earth.... the negative battery terminal is connected directly to the car body, so any earth cable which is also connected to the car body is essentially connecting to the negative battery terminal.

    Cheers

I'm no big electrical expert so thanks for that.

This forum just keeps on teaching. Thanks a bunch.:D
