You can get ballast extension cables through eBay quite cheap. This will open up further possibilities for installation locations, simply because of the reach of the extension. Ultra thin ballasts are the best as you can squeeze 2 ballasts down the side of the headlights without removing the assembly at all.

forgive my ignorance, but I installed my low beam HIDS this week and just tucked the slim ballasts down behind the headlight under the HICAS against the engine bay and same below the fusebox on the LHS... You can barely seem them, should these be hidden or something? It pretty obvious there HIDS - so hidding the ballasts is a waste of time and a pain in the arse if you have to replace one at night...

I'll look at those extensions thanks for that. I want them fixed tight not just pushed into somehwre thats prob why I am being so difficult. Dont want them vibrating or flopping around. I have done a search and not many pics only write ups. But I really appreciate the feedback guys heaps. Thanks a lot.Thr pics are a good help. Can I cut and extend the cables/wires myself, as long as they are the right gauge wire/

i would do this as they have a heatsink and get quite hot, which in turn can cause them to fk up if u place them the wrong side down/ in a tight spot with no air flow.

Well guys firstly want to say many thanks for the time the ones that replied and helped in any way to help me out. It is and was very ,uch appreciated.
I ended up taking out the lights...(dumb move) and fitted the ballasts under the light casings. All seems well secure adn roomy...well as can be for a zed under the bonnet. I also did a search and found what a head ache doing the high beams are, but I did.( again dumb me) but after a full day quite pleased. I found the by taking apart the original globe holder and just using the spring and metal plate from it with a same size grommet as the globe it all fits really nice and snug and tight. Now just to adjust them...........mmm
Anyway there must be a way of using another cars globe holder fittings and replace them with ours as they are only held on by 2 screws. As I have seen cars that have the same globe H1 and they have the spring/clip already fixed to them. Has anyone tried this yet?

when i did mine i just used those same sockets that hold the h1 but i drilled out the centre and made it fit the standard h1 hid globe through that and then put it in a spare headlight that i have and used silastic to hold the globe in the holder. Although I found doing it this was i had to use a 10mm drill bit in the centre of the globe holder inside the light so that the globe would fit through the aluminum section, easier done with the headlight out I would imagine but with the right tools you would be able to do it in the car.

well done. I will b chasing up some broken and trying to get from any members broken headlights but the section that screws into the plastic housing that holds the globe. That way I may be able to make up a good holder then pass it on to other members if they need it. So anyone with broken high beam lights let me please.

Are all of the beam adjusters working 100%? If not, I've posted some vaible repair options to the broken plastic gears within the adjusters with metal ones. A very inexpensive and fairly simple fix for the JDM beam adjusters. This would be an excellent time to do this repair/mod while the headlights are out.
    Let me know.
