After owning many v8's I decided to grab me a 1990 300zx tt black auto 2x2.
What I wouldnt mind knowing is prices of resprays(door shut)minor quarter rear panel dent fix its. and This car came with a seperate "hks' boost guage which currently hits the 1.5 mark after going the 7 on the stock(dunno what this means.
When i bought it i was told the turboshad been "done" but thats just by word(after many aftermarket v8's I dont listen to this sorta shit much anymore!)
I did however get the car at a good price(i will post pics soon) but im new to the forum and new to twin turbo japanese cars(being a falcodore guy before!)
Now the mods i did do the falcon was bigger t/b great flowing heads and manifold u/d pulley injectors and before i sold it i WAS gonna do a c/fugal supercharger(10,000 bucks) running maybe 12 psi
Can anyone just shoot the breeze with me and welcome me to the forums and tell me some stuff...cos im willing to make quite a few mods to this car (while just keeping it stealth looking)
thanx guys..ill be around for awhile i guess!

welcome mate, click the tech button up the top n check out the articles, lots of info.

1.5 bar is 21-22 psi, if the turbos are stock they are beyond their effeciency range, reducing your power, llower them down to 13-14 psi, as at 21 they wont last long, if hi flowed properly 21 is fine.

different to any car club ive bin in b4.. and its not even a real club!

i know a heap of guys from here outside the whole Z thing these days too

have fun.. and if shes running 1.5bar.. shes not stock (or if she is shell be going bang very very soon) stock guage only reads to 7.. more boost than that and it shrugs its shoulders at you and says i dunno.. so look at the HKS one

IMHO, don't expect a nice review of the 300zx from Hyperdrive. They seem to be really negative about them, and try to push you towards a Skyline etc. At least, they did with me.

Regardless, enjoy your ride and welcome to the club.

Expect hyperdrive to suggest a new wiring harness be installed.

yeah hyperdrive told me that zeds are crap and too expensive to work on.. every time i was asking about stuff their hourly rate kept going up.. started off at 90 bucks an hour.. ended up with a statement.. will your talking 2 days labour at the same rate.. 120 bucks an hour.. i was like WTF.. this was all in the same phone conversation.. theyre very good at tuning sr20s if ya got one though!!

also they told me itd take em 2 days to get my engine out.. i informed them it was already on the stand and it took me 5 hours to get it out..

i dont like workshops FULL STOP! how the hell am i going to tune my car!

Wideband with datalogging and your already purchased zem on fwy at 3am? Or barbagello I guess.

Definitely agree on the workshop thing, but then I don't have the knowledge to do alot of the stuff myself, so I'm caught in a hard place.

i have a logging wideband controller and 2 wideband senders (gunna put a switch between em so i can tell which side is running leaner and tune off that)

Did ash provide a baseline tune that you can work off of, or are you pretty much left to your own devices?

Very curious how your experience with the Zem proceeds.

    Hi dude!

Dose the car have a controller, ebc, manual/c, jets? You may wont to turn the boost down a little lower(not possible with jets you have to remove them) untill you find out what turbos you have, and if any internal work was done forged pistons ect. Its not a good idea running 1.5 bar 21.7psi all day every day on the stock setup. IMHO, hiflowed stock turbos are makeing things pretty hot at that psi.

Sorry man! I'm a tool (1st turboe'd car and Im 32!) I took it out this morning and its NOT running 1.5 bar, but 0.5 (shows how much attention I paid)
Sorry for misleading people, u see the hks guage goes MINUS then 0 then 0.5..and all the way up to 2.5
I was counting from 0 not minus.....so its definately 0.5 which i think is basically stock..the guy before me prolly just put a seperate guage as wank factor i guess...but it looks couls and could be useful for later.
cheers and sorry bout that to everyone.
