Nice mate that bonnet looks crazy faded haha. Not to sure myself on the starting issues but someone here will deffinatley be able to help, i guess i would start with the simple things first like starter motor, battery, cooked ptu? maybe some loose connectors or a vaccum line?

My zed wont start at all when the afm isnt plugged in so check that?

Check all the connectors under the bonnet for corrosion and clean or replace. Coil - Injector - P.T.U - C.A.S - Idle control - 2x temp sensors. Bad connectors can cause a lot of issues on these cars so it is a easy/cheap spot to start. Also replace the spark plugs as once it cranks without firing they flood and you need to let it sit for and hour before trying again.
    hope this helps dave

The reason I pointed out your error in calling it a "convertible", is because any "Search" you may do for assistance will fail(due to there being NO TT convertibles from the factory).
If you don't see this as good advice, so be it, but I can assure you it's NOT "the same shit" when you're looking for information to help solve your troubles.

    IB ?????

Start by heading to the tech section and learn how to do an ECU diagnostic.

There are bound to be some other tech articles in there to help you out.

Ive had the same problem with mine and the solution Sermed a bit weird to me: what fuel did you put in it? If 91 octane, and the previous owner also put 91 in it before it died this may be the cause. If it is, whats probably happening is that the car thinks the fuel inst rich enough and so it runs Too rich. Its not a problem driving it but when starting the car can cause issues. I belive due to the fact that the fuel to air ratio is too high. And then after trying for ages to start it with no ignition, ur 02 sensors and spark plugs will be playing up due to all the unburnt fuel passing through them..

My advice, if filled with 91 octane, unplug fuel pump (reed switch in drivers footwell) and turn it over till it Achieves the right fuel/air ratio and starts, then play around with fuel pump reed switch until it idles smoothly, might run shit house because of O2's and spark plugs until they're clean... Then fill with 98 octane, and never use 91 again :) if you're not using 91 octane then sorry for wasting ur time. :p took me a long while to work out that my problem was my fuel though :(
