There was a show on SBS a week back on Nanotechnology. This will be the next big thing after micro-conductors. Basically the size of the semi conductors is limited ie. there will be a time when manufacturers will not be able to shrink them any furhter. This is when nanotechnology comes in, they are basically a biologically based semi conductor the size of a single cell. They have termed them nanobots. The extent of its use is limitless and if in the wrong hands can be devastating. The dark side of nanotechnology is what's affectionately known as "grey goo" - the threat of nanobots multiplying to devour all...woooo...scaryyyyy. Hendrik Schon almost led the world to the brink of nanotechnology...almost. A brilliant physician working at Bell Labs, Schon based all his results on fraudulent experiments! It was only after a colleague investigated into his papers that he was caught out. Needless to say he was escorted from the Bell premises on the day the findings were delivered. Re: Nanotechnology As we speak my son is on his way to the Netherlands to begin a 4yr Phd in nanotech. He graduated from Flinders Uni. here in SA with a B.Sc Nano(Hons). last year and bravely flew out only yesterday. I'm one very very proud Dad:thumbsup: Andy.

Phew! Big sigh of relief tonight........... Got a call from my son who's navigated his way to Enschude on the border of Holland and Germany. Managed to get through Amsterdam without getting " sidetracked":LOL:

sidetracked..... i was supposed to be in amsterdam for a few days...i ended up being there for 2 weeks!!!!!!!! I also nearly got a job there, i wish i did Max:thumbsup:
