I also looked at the RX7's, but compared to the Z32 it is quite dated (c'mon ORANGE dials on the dash???) and small inside. I had trouble driving one and i'm only 6'1"

The Z aren't too bad if you get one that has been looked after. Be preapred for your PTU to go though. The Z also has marginally better fuel economy too!!

    haha
How long is a piece of string!!

A lot will go down to how the car has been treated by the previous owner.

If you want a cheap to repair car, get a VB VH VK commonwhore or Falcoon equiv.

You will pay a little more in maintenance to drive in a stylish ride like the Z32.

Each time you get the shitZ with the outlay, just take it for a drive and all is forgiven :)

I have been lucky (once my cooling system was sorted out). All my outlaying of money have been for "wanted" improvements and BLING.

BIG "C" .... ???!!!! .. you have to be joking ....??try,. before you buy .

or "let the buyer beware" ...( caveat emptor)??? .. i first owned a rx7, manual, series 3, ( don't think that it was s2, but, anyway it doesn't matter ..!!) new, late 1982, purchase cost ..$17,500 ..and it was a heap of absolute fun to drive .. and cost totally f'all to service and maintain .... it did a couple of extended stretches in storage while my employers decide to give me a good time o/seas ...!!! yea ...!! thumbsup::LOL:.. drove it straight out of storage, twice, w/o missing a beat ..

retired to g/coast in 1998, found and bought a s3, from the ORIGINAL OWNER in 2000, 211,000 on the clock ..and just bloody magic !!! ..spent less than $2000 on it in lesss than 5 years ..... there's more, if you want the story of the young guy from cairns, who bought it 6 months ago and drove it back to cairns, over two days .. didn't miss a beat again and burnt no oil.

and my zed ??? .. well over $5000 in the first, just completed year .. i just stopped counting !!!.. and back into the w'shop today ...!!! ..yea, good, bloody stuff ..!!

    ooops, lad, try again ..!!!:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::p:p:LOL:

    The Zed is awesome

but you do have to be aware that it may cost you a small fortune in repairs over time. Even if you get a good and mechanically sound Zed there is always a possibility of things going wrong. They are an expensive car to work on if you are unable to do things yourself but the joy of driving a Zed is second to none. Fuel economy is ok dependant on condition and driving style depends on how much fuel you are likely to go through, i get 450k's to a tank around town on optimax. When you find a Zed you seem happy with get one of the many Zed guru's on this forum to check it out for you and if possible have a couple of grand spare to do some preventative maintanence.

Hope this helps. Happy Zedding if you decide to go down that route

how much money have you got to spend?

and how much could you possibly put aside for maintenance?

My advice, you'd wanna spend at least $13-15K on the zed and have another $2-5K in the bank as backup..

They are 15 years old and things will break and need replacing.

They cost $80+ K when new, and unfortuneatly the prices for parts have not gone down over 15 years...

    Thats the reality of it.

    Cheers
