    Hi there,

I Have a 1990 N/A Manual and had a few small problems with it.

It seems like my alternator has died because after swapping in a new battery (and about a day of driving) all my electrics seem to die when I put my foot on the break. And then the car won?t start after it cuts out. Could this be anything other than the alternator???

I was also told that the drop in the battery can affect my ECU. Is this something that I should be looking to replace??

The odometer is showing about 75000km on it and I have no previous paperwork on any work done on it. Should I be getting a 100k km kit from COZ ASAP to install??

I already have a S2PTU to install in it as it came with a S1.

Alarm system and air pod I have and am going to install soon, As well as a plenum pull that I hope to do at the same time.

Also I was wondering if anybody could recommend an aftermarket water temp gauge. I have done some searching and could use some advice on it.

Is there anything else that I should be aware of/looking at replacing?

    Thank you
    all
    Ryan

    Thanks

I have but a multimeter on it and the volts are showing that it's not charging, so it looks it time to pull out the alternator.

Thanks for the help with my other questions

The most frequent cause of failed Z32 Alternators is leaking Power Steering Pump/Hoses, as this allows P/S Fluid to flood the Alternator(usually resulting in a cooked Voltage Regulator circuit).

There are volumes of posts/threads relating to this, if you use SEARCH.:)

Hey Chili, I have used the search and the tech search multiple times and did find the answer about the leaking seals causing the cooked Voltage Regulator. And that seems to be what has happened here, that and the spring loaded bushes have worn down too much.

The fact that I had multiple things to address is why I made my own thread.

Sorry if I seem to be biting your head off but your quote above makes me feel like a child just trying to waste everybody?s time.

Now that I have gotten that out of the I have a bit of an update on things.

Alternator is out and going to be rebuilt locally and I have just got a new one being flown from the US that is fully reconditioned.

The guy that owned my Zed before me thought that he knew how to wire things up so now I have to rewire the entire Audio unit, Speakers and amp because it is the worst wiring that I have ever seen. I am charging my camera so that I can get some pics of it.

My driver?s seat is rocking a little bit so I pulled it out and one of the welds holding the seat onto the rail has split apart. I will be rewelding it back on tonight or over the next week (or just getting a racing seat to install)

The old owner had also broken the driver?s side lock so you have to go in through the passenger?s side. New locks to be installed soon (with remote central locking :) )

S2 PTU ready to be installed as per the Relocation number 3 in the tech section.

Hopefully I can fix all these problems before the NSW cruse to Kiama.

Apexi A3 Pod Filter installed and ready to go.

    Robbo,

I wasn't belittling you with my suggestion re: SEARCH. I looked at your join date(and given the fact that this subject has had endless threads/posts in the past few years)I simply advised you to look there for a wealth of info, rather than having to type it all in again. :)

You appear to have overlooked the fact that I gave you a detailed explanation of the possible cause, prior to offering advice about using SEARCH.

+1. This was the exact reason of alternator failure on my gf's zed.
