    hey guys
Been saving up some money to spend on car and was thinking why not get a bike instead for bit of fun. I dont know all that much about bikes, what sort of costs, performance, maitenance, how many kms do engines last on them. Of these bikes which is better in terms of performance.
    RGV, ZX2R, CBR RR, NSR.
    Cheers

CBR would be the cheapest to buy and run, the NSR will be the coolest and the most expensive to buy and maintain

but the NSR will be hands down violently quick compared to the CBR, but if i were you, if its your first bike.. seriously get a v-twin.. they might be slower, but you wont kill youself in the first 6 months

theres a reason for the 250 restriction and the two strokes sort of dont belong in the under 250 catagory (can anyone say loop-hole?)

even the 4cyl high revving CBR can be quite dangerous for a first bike

    250cc help

there is no way a nsr 150 has more balls then the cbr250 rr
you have to push them off the start to make em move they r lighter which is not a good thing in the wind and dont feel comfortable to ride long distance.

i dont even know how these bikes go

lets say the two stroke rgv and nsr, what would they do over the 1/4 and 0-100 estimate. In comparison to the fireblade and ninjas do?.

I want something decent that is at least as quick as the zed, so i dont get bored too quick.

if your Z can do 0-100 in 3 seconds id be impressed
    R1s are violent machines

i'm looking at an r6 or CBR600RR for my next bike, but they seem to be around the same price as an R1 (about a grand in it around 11Gs)

why would you bother with the 600cc versions?

First question... IS THIS YOUR FIRST BIKE???

    if so.. stay away from:
Suzuki RGV250: F$#king QUICK bikes! has the same engine as the aprilia rs250... but being a 2 stroke mean HIGH MAINTENANCE

Kawasaki Ninja zx2r: Crap for everyday cruisin... like to be pushed HARD! all the time in high revs

Honda NSR250: Not legal on [L]

What about a Kawasaki zzr250 or across? nice looking sports bike.

I just purchased a Honda CBR250RR for summer
    - low maintenance
    - cheap parts (heaps of them around)
    - hold it's value
    - look good
    - goes hard
    - perrfect size for lil me:p
FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Have fun and don't kill yourself.

    Re: yes first proper bike

You can pick up a niceee rr for around $4000-$4500

difference that i know of is fairing and front brakes. rr have twin front rotors / r has single
but don't hold me to that:wacko:

    check out www.cbr250.com

    Go for a 4-stroke - CBR250RR!

Firstly, I am Honda biased in terms of bikes;). I had the NSR150SP for almost a year as a first bike, before moving on up to a CBR600RR:thumbsup:. I've also tried a CBR250RR (not much difference between the 250R and RR, mainly the year I think), and all I can say is that I wish I went for the 250RR instead of the 2-stroke NSR. Being an engine that burns oil, every now and then I had to pull the tank off, remove the spark plug just to wipe excess oil off so the damn thing would kick start! (Due to this, you may even find your right leg muscle getting bigger than your left... worth considering if you have a heavy Zed clutch and want to even out your physique:LOL:)

Anyway, the NSR150SP is probably slightly faster than the 250RR, but the 250RR is a better made bike (Japan compared to Thailand), and being a 4-stroke, much smoother in power delivery, and better for a learner. PLEASE avoid the NSR250 as a first bike. I have heard of way too many stories of first time riders (one a friend) that have seriously hurt themselves on these beasts, as they are extremely quick!

If I was to go through it again, I'd get the CBR250RR. If anything it sounds a lot better than most 250's, and in my opinion, nicer than 2-strokes.

Like everyone says if its your first bike and you want to live, stay away

from the 2 strokes, get a honda v twin like a spada or something which are a lot more torquey in the mid range and hence easier to ride for a learner. Two stroke are really a two speed bike damn slow or frikin fast!!

If you're a learner why not get a dirt bike.......

easy to ride, cheap on maintenance (only 1 cylinder), very manouverable in traffic (good as a DD), and you can hit the trails on the weekends & if you get a 2 stroke they go like a scalded cat anyway. Just a thought.
