car was slowly leaking coolant constantly, i took EVERYTHING off, and this is what i found. there was a slow oozing of the coolant from what i think is a breather hole.

i am thinking the seal inside the water pump isnt working? can ppl please confirm this or offer some additional advice.

and if i need a new one, does anyone have a working water pump or know where i can get a new one cheapish?

    thanx heaps
EDIT: thats the breather hole (or whatever its called) at the bottom of the pump, there is also one on the top

Looks like you're in need of a 100,000km service...

that involves replacing the whole water pump. And you would NEVER go a second hand one. Get a new one from COZ.

While your there, prob best to replace the timing belt as well - for piece of mind.

Waterpumps in Zeds don't last long

I bought a Zed with 103,000 kms on the clock (almost certainly genuine - Aus Spec). Major service had just been done but water pump, thermostat etc had not been replaced. Waterpump failed (in a major way) at 130,000 kms. I then took the opportunity to replace thermostat etc as well.

Car has now done 170,000 kms and one of the oulleys is making a noise. Again, I think this should have been changed at 100,000 kms.

IMO these parts are only engineered to safely last 100,000 kms, so if you are unsure, replace them with new parts.

    Cheers,

    Peter

My aus-spec did the same thing

pump wasn't replaced at 100k, and lasted until 140k.

Definately YES! Only my timing belt was changed at 100,000 (I know who

did the job even though I didn't own the car at the time). My water pump went at 156,000 and so I did everything they suggest be done at the 200,000 service. My oil seals were as hard as rock. Even though the idlers and tensioner looked OK I replaced them anyway.

Don't get a cheap aftermarket water pump ...

as they have been proven to fail very quickly. Make sure you buy a Nissan OEM spare part, either from TTZ, Coz or a Nissan dealer. Best to stump up and get a new one rather than second hand too.

That hole is there to indicate a failed pump seal

Go to Nissan and buy a new genuine one. They only cost about $115 and no waiting for overseas parts.

While you have the radiator out get the hose blast the air con radiator with the hose facing forwards (make sure you put plastic bags over the turbo piping 1st) then grab some new fan belts, and maybe a new thermostat.

I had a slowly creeping temperature gauge on longer drives, so I replaced the water pump, rinsed the AC radiator, and replaced the thermostat, and now she stays on 82C all day no matter what I am doing.

2nd that. OEM ( around $120) are cheap compared to some.
