    Help needed please.
Dropped a friend home and as i pulled up i heard a bang and smoke/steam from under bonnet. radiator cap blew off. Temp was 3/4 high. waited for radiator to call down for 1/2 hour. filled up radiator with rain water. waited for it to settle down. drove off. after a minute or two i could hear slight rattling noise on throttle. as i drove temp slowely rised up and rattling was more predominant. until finally close to home, temp reached high. turned car off, popped bonnet and smoke/steam (?) was coming from back of engine block (closest to inside of car).
    Any people know any info?>
    need help?

Firstly what state are you in?

And secondly, i'd be taking a guess but there are heater hoses at the back of the engine. Go to your mechanic or radiator joint and get your radiator rodded, get a new 1.2bar radiator cap, full system flush...they should know what else to do.

    Max:thumbsup:

Get the car TOWED to a reputable Zed mechanic.

Doesn't sound good ... rattling sound would have been coolant boiling in the block as air (actually super-heated steam) was present.

    Just be carefull

my guess is that the cap wasn't on properly and further still probably was a new cpc cap. Also be carefull as no water means that the temp guage will be erratic as it needs water to make it work not steam!

If you're anywhere near the north east suburbs, get it transported to

Morpowa auto centre. To be on the safe side, removal and flushing/checking of radiator, new oem rad cap, check of coolant for exhaust/combustion gas contamination to see if head gaskets are still OK, compression test, and replacement of every coolant hose in the engine bay that can be reached would be a minimum that I'd be aiming for. If you can get it to Morpowa, it's close to me, and I can check the car out as well, if you'd like.

I wouldn't be driving it until it's all checked and sorted though. Zed engines are strong, but overheating kills them.
