Help... PS Belt Tensioner Jammed

    ok so changine the acc belts and cant get the f*ing PS tensioner to release, undone the locking nut and loosened the tensioning bolt but it just wont budge it seems to be jammed something chronic, obviously i dont wanna go attacking it with a hammer or some sort of other hard hitting object but i cant think of much else to do... is there something ive missed?

    They're always like that :(

    Wedge a screwdriver between the belt and the pulley and then rotate the crank pulley by hand and it will drive the belt off. Put the new one on the same way.

    Have you loosened the bolt that hold the pump to the engine? You have to line up the pulley so the hole in the pulley gives access to the bolt. The pump will be really stiff still and will only move 10mm or so tops if you push hard. You'll still need to do the screwdriver trick though.

    got it off with the screwdriver trick but then went to put new one on and well that was the last time i trust the bosch belt product guide... bloody thing told me to get a 3 ribbed belt rather than a 4 and i didnt realise till i got it on now i have to go and get it off again and buy a new one V_V

    LOL 3 rib is for the aus spec NA, tt is 4 :)

    Yes, but the book he was looking at was no doubt only considering the aus spec NA:cool:
