i need a quick fix. some genius has tack welded the EGR exhaust nut in place and the pipe was busted off had a sealent on it. so i removed the egr and cleaned the sealent. stated the car and now it's spewing out exhaust gas everywhere. i need a seelant to block this hole it is covered in RTV gasket goo atm and needs to be fixed

i dont really understood what u just said but im guessing ur talking about the egr connecting to the manifold.

if u have bypassed this, the bolt needs to be welded up so there is no hole in it. put some locktight on it and bolt it back on.

the bolt that goes into the manifold cannot be removed and the pipe had been half knocked off when we did the plenum pull we noticed it, we completed the removal of the pipe but i have no way to seal the hole created by the removal of the EGR to exhaust manifold pipe.

well of course it's going to spew 'exhaust gasses' everywhere, isn't it? You removed a pipe that was blocking a hole, how the hole is leaking. You need to plug the hole. Can't you just block it as it was before hand?

    will be tricky

No really? hence the explanation and the search for solutions. sorry if i am a bit narky but i have spent all day tring to get this thing back together with the missus riding my ass about having it going.

as for welding it the idea is great but i lack a welder at present. no where is open to buy one or i'd blow the money on one just to fix it.

if there is anyone on the northside with a welder capeable of helping me out with this i'll shout u a carton.

Anyone know what size bolt it is?

If the pipe wasnt sticking out from the bolt too much you could get a socket on it (or get a deep socket if there is a bit of pipe still protruding)

Maybe you will need to hit it with the Inox a couple times a day for a few days and then give it a crack with a socket (if its physically possible) or a spanner...

nut is damaged from several attempts at removing the nut and the stupid assed pipe is bent in partialy over the hole. not enough pipe to completely bend it over.

If the bolt is all mangled

Multigrips, dont think you a going to be able to weld it up whilst in the car under a plenum with a bit of pipe sticking through, can you even get a good look at it with the plenum back on?

Maybe try some metal mend to fill it. Its not the right application for it but might get the missus of your arse.

It should blow out not fall in. "SHOULD". Nead it up and make a hat sort of thing over the nut.

i doubt the metal mend will last long

we tryed it on a egr removal over here and the pressure and heat just blew it straight out of the pipe the first time the car hit boost.....very inconvenient

    that was using quicksteel....

do you guys think that an exhaust shop could correct this issue? IE : grind back the top of the bolt with a dye grinder and weld a plate into place?

They might be able to. Will be difficult to get the mig in there. They could most likely get enough weld on it to shut it up a bit.

yup exactly as i mentioned. its the only thing i can think of that will work dude... will be very annoying and hard and i bet almost all welding places will tell u to f off lol....

has anyone got a welder that can help out in the area?? this is going to need a bit of time and patients....

I blocked that pipe off with a bolt , approximately 10mm diameter .
That was whilst doing the plenum pull awhile ago , I've since cut the head off the bolt. It doesn't leak exhaust so I'll just leave it that way.
    You could try that ?
