I've been having a problem with my transmission ever since I washed my car and did a bit of hosing off underneath to get some salt spray off. Now I'm getting a code 4 "4th flash longer than others = Shift solenoid "A" circuit is shorted or disconnected" The trans is flaring and shifting at strange times. Anyone know what the shift solenoid A circuit is and where to start trying to fix it up? Any help will be greatly appreciated. By the way, when it first happened, I immediately took it off the road and gave the trans a service, replacing the filter and fluid, but nothing changed. I've adjusted the TPS that was at 0.40 back up to 0.46. and I've got a code 21 error, relating to the ignition circuit but haven't been able to find out whats causing that yet.
Have you checked and cleaned.....>> All the electrical connections in the area in which you were spraying water? Including those on/near the box?
Electrical Connections I had a look under their the other day, but can't see any connections that are accessible?
Drop the oil pan again And chech the wires at the end of the filter are not squashed and shorted under the filter. The plugs to the side of the filter are all plugged in securly. Solenoid A is in the pan area.
Now where getting somewhere Thanks cbzx, I'll give that a go, I just thought that because it happened before touching the transmission, that it would be a matter of a loose connector or one with water in it, but I can't seem to see any connectors from below. Anyone know where the electrical connections are? Would they be accessible from underneath, or maybe from on top where the shifter goes thru the floor?
Error Code - solved After consulting the service manual and going thru the diagnostic, I did some testing at the solenoid connector inside the engine bay. As it turns out the connection was a bit loose and just needed a little fiddle and away she went. Very happy zedder.
