HI guys i need help to help to reprogram my ecu to accomadate the changes that i have made recently ot do that can i reprogram my existing ecu or do i need a new one? if so where can i get it reprogramed does any one know?
Not many people retune stock ecu's. UAS (Sydney), PZP (Perth), 90TTZ (Townsville) do ECU tuning, don't know about Victoria. What mods have you done? are you talking about a full custom A/F tune, or just want to tweak it?
I second that , its really good setup and not expensive. Im going to use it when/if i reco my current motor +turbo's Regards Trev
It's the only logical choice if you want to keep the factory ECU, otherwise if you get a stupid chip any time you make a single change you're gonna to get it retuned again and again. Do that 3 times and you could of bought yourself a full standalone...
I'm sorry. With all the pointless one liners you post I thought you would have understood Another alternative is what I use and most of the Z32 factory ECU tuners use which is an EPROM emulator and your choice of software that is freely available on the net. This solution is less expensive than Nistune for a start. Nistune is nice but not the one and only.
Urmm. What he said. Plenty of chip emulators out there. And I dunno where you are getting your tuning 3 times = standalone idea from. Burning an EPROM chip costs 11/10ths of **** all
So, what would one use to interface the software and the ecu itself? Interested in getting my ecu remapped also. Cheers, -Kirill
Don't forget no matter what equipment you have, you still need the tuning knowledge to make a successful tune. Inexperienced tuner = danger.
I didn't say it's the ONLY option did I? Socketing an ECU and installing a romulator isn't something everyone is willing to do themselves. Paying someone to install it for you is going isn't going to be free and what's a good pocket romulator run? $250? If you send away your ECU to Matt at Nistune then he sends it back ready to go, plug and play. Their forum support is top notch too. Live Edit is one.
Couldn't you find a tune that (roughly) represents the state of your car? For example, say you have an exhaust, fmic and are running 14 psi, could you find a tune for this combination, then burn it to the ecu without actually having tuning experience yourself? (This is assuming that every tune is done to squeeze out performance, not any other reasons like fuel economy). Sorry if it's a stupid question, just trying to get my head around what's involved in remapping ecus. Cheers, -Kirill
Check this out... This is a quote from JP @ UAS... He is talking about generic tunes like you mentioned. To get a 'proper' tune for your car (that sees the best result), it needs to be done on a dyno specifically for your car. including A/F ratios and ignition timing throughout your entire rev range.
I'm curious... If one was to learn how to properly burn their own tune to a chip for their ecu, besides the software you need, how exactly does the chip connect to your pc to burn it, where do you buy blank chips, how/where does one get their ecu socketed, and what does a socketed ecu look like, on the chip board I mean? I guess that's a lot of questions but like I said I'm curious, I've read around on the forum a bit but never seen the answer to those questions before. Cheers for any info
