Hi, My front bar was damaged by a workshop and now it looks like i'll get paid out for the cost of a change over bar + paint. I don't really want a repaired bar and think i'll take the chance to update. I wanted a oem 2000mdl front bar, then noticed the UAS one: http://300zx.com.au/pricelists/General/300ZX%20parts/uaszedbar2.jpg What do you think? Is the UAS one a good quality unit? Do they fit well? Any help advice would be great. Cheers...Clint
The 2000 bar is more practical I don't know about fitting quality but I prefer the look of the UAS one and it looks like it gives more air-flow. However it's fibreglass so I got the jspec 2000 model cos it's polyurethane - it will flex instead of crack. Plus it's still a nice looking bar.
front bar I was worried about it being fibreglass aswell but it does look good. I think i'll go for it.
I have this bar. The version with the speed holes, the stock bar has better clearance this one is very low, and I am at stock ride height. The Nissan 2000 bar is a good option as it is not fibreglass, but the 2000 spec UAS sells isnt the nissan OEM bar and is not fibreglass. Buy this one from TTZED or other Nissan supplier if you want one. Regards Mark
Go for the 2000mdl oem front bar, if you get a fibre glass one it might look good but it's going to give you a head ache. I've got a fibreglass bar it looks good but it scrapes everywhere i go no matter how carefull i am and my car is not lowered. At least with the oem bar being plastic it has a lot more clearance and it flexes unlike the fibreglass bars. If you get get a fibreglas one get real friendly with a panel shop lol.
UAS 2000 front bar will fit perfectly and it is higher than the factory bar from their website INCLUDES CHANGES TO BOTTOM SECTION TO ACHIEVE A LARGER OPENING FOR INTERCOOLER FLOW WHICH ALSO HELPS ENGINE COOLING. THE 2000 MODEL BAR IS 8MM HIGHER THAN THE FACTORY SERIES 1-3 FRONT BARS EVEN AFTER LOWERING THE CAR. SLIGHTLY MORE FRONT OVERHANG The front bar you've linked to is the UAS front bar for Nissan 300zx which I think Shifter has on his car? This one definately sits higher than the stock bar and also important less overhang will certainly increase street driveability. Again from their website BASED AROUND A REVAMPED JAPANESE BAR. WE HAVE CUT AND SHUT THE BAR TO RAISE IT AROUND 20MM AND REDUCED OVERHANG BY AROUND 40MM TO MAKE THE BAR MORE PRACTICAL FOR EVERYDAY ROAD DRIVING. If you're after practicality but still looking hot i would go for the latter (UAS front bar for Nissam 300zx) option as it is bother higher and less overhang, whereas the 2000 model is only marginally higher and I think the increased overhang will probably make it just as bad as a stock bar in terms of scraping.
rob260 - so the bar you are talking about, in the latter part of your message is this bar right? Lets get some images going. and of course this is the 2000 front bar Does anyone know of any other front bars that Aussie retailers sell? (besides other ones from UAS and ttzed)
UAS have a variety of front bars Ab Style front bar UAS Front Bar UAS 2000 Model Front Bar UAS Veilside Style Front Bar UAS Bomex Style Front Bar The bar that I thought would offer the most improved driveability was th UAS Front Bar in pic 2. UAS have a whoile page of styling bits and pieces (bars, grills, wings, lights etc) that can be found HERE.
I found the UAS Bar is easier to scrape than the stock TT bar I had before. Maybe this is also as I installed 18 inch rims (from 17) at the same time. UAS bar doesnt fit as good as the OEM bar either but you would have to be pretty picky to complain about that. Regards Mark
Really? That doesn't make alot of sense given the specs of the bar... Maybe some other dynamics come into it as you suggested? Any pics of your car? EDIT just checked your profile, looks hot! The last pick is with the UAS bar right? Doesn't look like it's any lower but who could tell with all those different angles...
Yes correct. UAS bar in the last pic, I have now though added a UAS rear bar which had to be cut and shut to fit a 2 seater as well as skirts. They do look great but need to be too cautious with them, and my car isnt lowered. Regards Mark
