Hi Guys....Due to the heater core going,I did the bypass last August...and have the replacement core.I really dont want to go down the track of the dash removal(its an auto or the no dash out deal).I have seen posts saying repeat installs are necessary at times.I want to extend the two hoses thru the firewall connected to the core in a small enclosed unit with a 12 volt 2 speed fan....hidden behind the glove box or somewhere....what size and type is the original fan...cylindricle or blade type? The water would flow all the time..but could turn off via a tap I spose....not sure if this is ok tho...would just fit a switch to turn fan on and off...would be a quick fix for me and no cold winter...apart from not being original anyone see any problems with this setup....thanks

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Sounds just like the set-up from Mr. Nissan's factory!

Seriously, it seems to me that you're just "re-inventing the wheel"! What you describe doing is exactly what the original designers set up.
What you are going to have to do, either to the original design, or to something you have thought up yourself, is to remove the original heater core, replace it with something else (a Nissan heater core fits well in the space provided), rip out the original fan and replace it with something else (why?, if the original was working properly?), remove and replace the heater hoses, all to come up with something that was there anyway.

You say you have an auto... just replace the heater core (look up the Tech articles on this) and reconnect the hoses (it's not THAT hard)!
