Have a chance to buy my original zed from 8 years ago. Has done 30k more and they are asking 8000.

    91 non turbo 160k.

I want it but they said they bypassed the something??? So the heater now doesn't work.

Not sure what they mean or how much it would cost to fix.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Bypassing the heater means that they have disconnected the coolant pipes that feed the heater under the dash. These pipes are at the back of the engine between it and the firewall.

Normally this is done when the heater core under the dash springs a leak. Reconnecting the heater core is easy, fixing the heater core is a reasonable amount of work as getting to the heater core required removing a fair bit of the dash.

You can get a replacement core for about $100 so if you're willing to do the work yourself it isn't expensive. If you have to pay someone then it can get costly

    Hope that helps

Nope no way I can do it myself.

How much to pay someone to do it?

This is an emotional buy with the PT Cruiser to go to fund it.

A lot torn about this buy..... Your thoughts?

Cannot be sure but a general figure of around $1000 to replace a heater core by a reputable workshop seems to ring a bell ... get Adelaide Z Cars to give you a quote ????

any chance of arranging a Tech day and getting the SA gurus to get into the job .. ???

The job can be done with dash in aswell! I've done it twice before, once one mine and another fellow zedder. Probably a 4hour job fir me.

I took the drivers seat out aswell so I could lay down in the car to make it more comfortable ;)

I'm confused, have you bought this car?

Speak to Morpowa Auto Centre - they have someone who from memory has quoted in the vicinity of $300 for a heater core changeover, if you supply the new core.

Can you still enjoy the car without the heater core connected?
If you um & arr , you'll miss the opportunity to get it back.
If it was leaking, then bypassing it was a good move.

I'll be replacing my heater core at some stage (hopefully in the not too distant future) so we might be able to run a tech day and knock them both off.

I wouldn't be letting it hold you back if everything else is fine with the car.

Sorryand sad to report that she is sold for 8k.

They gave me last right to match but didn't have the cash.

Which shits me As I just sold a half share in my boat for 5k.

Pick up Monday hope it falls through.

Mind u 8k was a very good price for them IMO
