Dodgy Bros. Mechanical Rides again. Karl and Jo have hosted another fine weekend of festivities in conjunction with a tech bonanza. Some thing to note A big Thank you to Karl and Jo and the kids for having us (and Sammie) Tammy and Caitlyn couldn't make it, we were on our way, and had to go back as Caitlyn became sick on the way with some tummy bug. One side benefit, I was able to transfer my gear to the Z and take that instead. Cara Makes the nicest muffins Hayz makes the bestest pizzas and coconut prawns (and foliage infested alcoholic beverages). Thanks to Chrispy for the Chrispy Spec Pink version. I actually got there in time to get my hands dirty this time. Chrispy turned up literally 5 minutes after the engine was on the ground Actually had a bonfire without FATE, so it can be done. Could have done with some extra incompetent supervision, but black baz wasn't available. Karl has good neighbours HaylZ's engine bay is actually red, not black I'm still pulling prickles from the grass out of my butt AND A special appearance by Justin Timberlake, hereby in this thread known as JT. YAY!!!! What an awesome weekend! good company, yummy food, heaps of booze and fun "car stuff". You guys are just awesome, i cant thank you enough for helping me pull my engine Jo, thank you so much for letting me loose in your house and your kitchen. Hope i didn't make too much of a mess!! Karl, Benny, Pex, Mikey and Cara, thank you all for coming down. and Chrispy, dont worry, you can make it down another time there is still plenty to be done!! Here's a few piccies.... K-Zed - your chicken legs were missed greatly!! Getting ready to pull out the engine ...stop for a break to re-hydrate... back to work... ...more re-hydration... it's a boy!!! yes, my engine bay is red... but not for much longer!!! And now for some serious drinking.... Apparently you can't get toast marshmallows with a fondue stick without burning your face off!! Just came back from fishing..... Pex and his new best mate!
J.T. Likes this.... Yep, great weekend. Got lots of work done on the saturday and had a lot of laughs along the way. Had the engine and gearbox out in about 4hrs. Nice to see we're finally gonna give the Mint 300 a proper make-over to bring it up to a really tidy standard and running reliable. Thanks to Karl and Jo for putting up with a whole bunch of drunken bums trashing your house. Big thanks to Haylz for cooking the BESTEST pizza's in the entire southern hemisphere! Hope the work we did on your car was up to your standards Thanks Mrz Magic (Cara) for your Muff's on Sunday morning, best tasting muff in the entire southern hemisphere! Looking forward to the second installment of a HaylZ tech weekend again soon to finish off the other bits. aka, 100,000k kit, plenum pull, centre bearing, suspension, and engine bay paint. Well at least I had boy clothes on this time I think Benny has got me onto Ted's as well... And Benny, where did you get that keeeeewwwwwwlllllllll shirt from with the blue Zed on it?
Part 1 seem to go very well. First time I've pulled the engine with an auto together, done a few manuals like this but just undo the bolts on the cross member and it's easy as pie. And for all the engine slinger purists I think this is number 7 engine pulled with 12mm silver rope around the plenum runners Got the engine on the stand today, I've never seen so much oil and grease baked on an engine before, even worse than my days playing with 186 and 308 reds. Took 3 cans of degreaser and pressure cleaner to get it looking respectable Rip the plenum off to conduct bypass and a serious chem clean followed by cam covers for re-sealing. Going to send the injectors in fuel rail to Dwight for servicing. Although I had a great time with the gang as usual, I can't recall a moment in my mind why I should have looked this serious........

wish we had tech days like this down here in vic.. need to find someone with plenty of space for parking and a bon fire.. wonder if bever will see this post awesome pics
