Just a quick post to get things started, hopefully people will add some pictures and more information later.

WYKKED, RedZedMikey and I took up the offer the FPV/XR Club extended to NDSOC members to join their Haunted Hills track day on sunday. The weather held out and there was even a bit of a risk of sunburn by the end of the day.

My times were not as good as I was hoping but not too bad either, I finished up with my best time at the end of the day of 68.75" which was a little better than my best last time I was there. Not bad and to be honest I don't think there is much more than an extra second, if that to be got out of even a perfect run around the track (perfect by my novice standards anyway) as the car is, to go much quicker I think I will need stickier tyres.

Pete and Mikey did quite well too and thanks to Russ for flag marshaling all day.

Well done to Mikey for finishing the day with a car still in good condition too, it's been a while.

Hopefully someone else will add more details and/or pictures too.

Tell me about the sun burn! My face was 'glowing' the next day! :p

I was fearing the worst with the sunburn too but was not too bad. Thanks for helping out all day, did you get any pictures while you were at it?

Also, I forgot about my excellent brake lock-up on the aptly named 'Oh Shit! Corner'. That was all sorts of fun and games for a moment, all good in the end though.

Unfortunately I didn't take my camera! & considering the great track vantages I had all day from both marshaling points that was a rather stupid thing to do! :(

I'm not sure what would have scared me more though??........discovering the yellow belly black snake that was obviously lurking right where I was standing during the morning session??:eek: as poor Craig found out after lunch!........or the sight of your car coming over that crest only metres away from me let's say slightly 'loose':p:p:p...like I said on the day!.....great save with a nice piece of driving! ;)

What a top day......what a long day.....what a long weekend!!!!! After spending all day Saturday working on Russ's Zeds we had a an early start (up at 5.00 and on the road at 6.00) to get down to Haunted Hills for a bit of motorsport fun. With only 27 entrants we all go a heap of laps. In fact I got so many laps I was running out of fuel causing the car to starve through the last couple of corners. My times were getting faster each time and I really wonder how much faster I could have been, the 60 second mark still beckons.

It was good to see Mikey's car still running in perfect condition after a hard day on the track and Pete Black was still there showing that NAs have a rightful place on the track. I'm sure once he thows some good rubber on that thing his times will start to come down.

I haven't edited the photos yet and might not get the chance until after Berri but I did upload a few videos.

Incredibly quick Mustang Cobra "Super Snake" Listen to that super charger scream.

Many thanks to Karyn and Sean for organising the day and inviting us and to Russ who spent the whole day standing on flag points except for when he was jumping in and out of cars during the passanger session.

Can't remember all the times, I'm sure someone will post them at some stage.

I don't know if the ugly fiberglass front of yours would have cleared going through the dip in the bottom corner Alex hahaha. Maybe next time you will come and join us and show us how it is done????????? We need more zeds on the track.......even if thery do have funny fronts.

That mustang sounds mean, and Pete I keep replaying the first 5 seconds of your vid, never realised your spool noise was so loud. Did you get any incar footage this time?
Looks like really good track, I always miss out on Haunted Hills events because of exams :(

Sorry, no incar footage this time. The camera doesn't get good sound anyway. Gotta love the induction noise from dual intakes and 25/35 ball bearing turbos. You have to try this track, it really is amazing.

Agreed! A tight little track without a high top speed, but great fun. Started off in the 68's and ended up with a 64.29, 1 second behind the Super Snake, and 1.8 secs behind Wykked.

I have to lose the stock suspension, I understeered and wallowed through the esses that make up the last section of track; I'm sure I could do that quicker. Also continued with bad axle tramp, could improve off the line. Don't think extra gobs of power would really help, that Super Snake is rated in the US at a minimum 447kw at the fly! Bilstein coilovers to be fitted before the next go, and the Leader gears would probably help too ....

My intentions of taking it easy disappeared somewhat during the day, I decided everything seemed OK, and am pleased that a) it all held together, and b) all the oiling problems evident at Warwick disappeared.

It will be dyno time soon :):):).

Fastest car on the day was an FPV BA F6 Typhoon with 60.17 seconds. Nissans might hold the honours at DECA, but Fords own this one ... at the moment!

    BigCol That's what she said...

Looked like a good day. Sorry we couldn't make it. Good to see all you boys having a good crack, and especially RZM getting the "bad luck" track monkey off his back!

Was the FPV quicker than the Elise from last year ('cos that thing was on rails) ?

No, about 2 seconds off from memory.

Still, not bad for an old family sedan...

Sorry to hear Tim, I asked Doug on the weekend what that comment meant ...

Got my pics from the photographer that was working the track - 91 on the CD, taken in 6 different motor-drive sequences. This is a great little track, as daunting as it might be on first drive, it sucks you and gets you coming back for more. I enjoyed the passengers sessions too - 3 or 4 consecutive laps at 70% (yeah, right ;););)) instead of 1 warm up lap + the real go was good fun. Hope we can do that again!

Just after the start line; the 2 guys behind the green ute are Roy (RoysZX) and Pete (Wykked).

These next 3 shots tell a bit of a story - body roll much? Suspension is the next thing to work on, its all 100% stock at the moment, and pretty sloppy. Can you hear the understeer????

So I lowered it "on the run". Easiest job ever, just take photo from other side of car :p:p:p.

You did remarkably well considering your suspension was doing so badly.

Based on the times you were getting I thought it was not so bad but the pictures tell another story.

Were the 91 images on the CD just your car or of them? How much was was it?

Thanks Pete - coilovers are in my possession; I'm now waiting for a certain GB to come to fruition, plus I might need to look at getting an Energy Suspension bushing kit. New front brakes arrive soon (today????), so next time around there I would like a reasonable improvement without any increase in the engine output ....

All images were of my car - I guess he's not silly enough to sell me all the pics for me to give yours out etc etc. All were taken with motor-drive, so from each run there is a series of pics taken from where he was standing. The price was $40 including postage, and are 3872x2592 pixels. I have done some cropping and resized much smaller for this thread. If you didn't get Karen's email with the photog's emaill addy I can send it your way.

Yeah, I got Karen's email but it didn't say anything about price and such, 91 images of your own car is pretty good, it would be kind of poor value to buy a CD for $40 with 91 images if only a few were of your own car, that was my concern when asking.

I might check send him an email, they are not great images but not bad ones at all either.
