    Hey all,

Quick and simple question. Does the handbrake light on the dash have a second meaning?

Mine is coming on at random times whilst driving, with the handbrake disengaged. After a short time it will disappear. I've known some cars to do this as a warning that your brake pads are getting low. Figured posting here might be the quickest way to an answer

    Thanks

When mine was doing that it was because of a super-kustom turbo timer install, do you have one of those?

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Both of my Zeds have had issues with the hand brake light. On my TT, I found when I pulled the carpet out that the wire going to the sensor at the base of the hand brake had been pulverised into the sound deadening tar, breaking in two as I tried to pull it out. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the issue with my last Zed.

Pull the center console off and have a look, a partially broken connection could be your issue.

Mine does it too, started since I took it out one night and pulled hand brake after hand brake...

Took out the interior pieces, got an air compressor and blew up all the dust n stuff that built up over the years around the wiring and sensor and it was good again!

Your brake fluid is low mate! Is only "just" though... That's why it comes on randomly. Mine does this it appears to be half full or just below... I filled it up and the problem was gone. I have a small leak from the res so it happens every now and then.

Thanks guys. I'll check my brake fluid, I havnt noticed any leaks but I will keep an eye out for any. I havnt checked the level for a while so it might be the reason. Also yes, I do have a turbo timer and if it's wired in like everything else is throughout the car then that could also be my problem. Its amazing to see some of the half assed work that has been done prior to me owning it, lots of hidden time bombs I've come across. Haha

You may have to trace that wire and see if they've spliced into it for the timer, mine was earthing in behind the console because some tape fell off.
Would the fluid level warning be on the handbrake light or the ABS light?

It's the handbrake light... ABS is for ABS

If the fluid in the res is close to half then it'll normally start to turn the light on intermittently.

Your fluid levels are supposed to gradually drop. Normally it's not because there's leaks, as the brakes wear away the caliper pistons have to come out further = less fluid in the res. Top up the res and the light should go away.
