Get used to destroying clutches constantly trying to drag a manual. A few mates who run their manuals have a nice big pile of ruined heavy duty clutches in their garage! lol
Just need the right type of clutch (for the right amount of $) but she's not going to be a drag car so the next clutch should last a fair while as it won't be dragged again for a long time since I know roughly what she can do. That white 180sx just looked not far ahead from that angle, it was actually running high 12s most of the day before blowing third gear *ouch* Cheers! Craig
I bet that OS Gieken clutch wasn't cheap though! Even the best of the best will still get destroyed without much of a run at the strip, I've seen brand new heavy duty clutches let go after a weekends worth of launching. It's very harsh on them, driver pending of course! Not really worth worrying about though if it's not going to be a drag car like you say, AWD cars are a nightmare aswell for serious drag cars. Some of the quick GTRs in Japan that arent converted back to RWD (as most are) have horrible torque steer issues when it hooks up.
A friend with a R32 GTR had a custom clutch... made up by a guy in QLD. He is very happy with it, and apparently it's VERY strong. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the guy who built it, but if you are interested, I can easily get the details. I do remember it wasn't cheap, but if it's as good as I've heard... it's well worth it.
Hey, Thanks for the info but won't be getting one for a while and I've got some other sources that should be able to hook me up with the right clutch for a decent price. Will just be adjusting it a bit so its still drivable for the time being. Cheers! Craig
It all depends how serious you want to get really, most people wanting proper drag cars will go the auto route with a transbrake and so on. Obviously that's no good on a street car aswell though...
Your going to have to learn to phrase your questions right, I said the car is fine but the clutch is worn out...it can be adjusted to still be driveable for months on end if I don't ever drive it on full boost/power but will eventually need replacing. Cheers! Craig
I've updated the drag list with Renee's run down the quarter, way to go Renee! the Australian 300ZX drag list is here: http://www.pexcom.com/forum/httpdocs/Draglist/draglist.htm
