    Hey everyone

Just wondering if the wastegates of 32 GTR turbos (94 model ... has R33 running gear) will fit onto the standard Z turbos? will there be any difference in boost levels?

    Thanks guys

Dunno whether it will fit, but there's not much point to do this anyway.

AFAIK, stock turbos aren't limited by wastegates in amount of boost they can run but by their small size. You can push them to around 18 PSI (but not on stock engines please :p ) and after that the airflow becomes so high that it loses efficiency.

To get more power after that you need bigger turbos or to further cool the air intake.

actually they are fyi. the auto turbos are smaller and have a hard time keeping the wastegate open past 15psi... manual turbos have a larger exhaust housing and can be easily pushed up to 18psi plus..

    give a PM to

AK (AK-300zxtt) or equivalent, he has some GTR turbo's that he wants to fit or something, dunno much about them but he may be able to help

haha don't worry im not boosting my car to 18psi .... i like my turbos & engine in one piece:)
im not planning on upgrading my turbos i was just under my car the other day changing my steering rack boots & i noticed the passenger side wastegate is looking pretty f'd & as my best mate has a spare pair of gtr turbos lying around we were thinking of swapping the wastegates (if they fit that is)

At 18 PSI you're maxing out the stock turbos anyhow. They won't flow anymore air after that so no point. He didn't say he had an auto BTW, and the only diff between auto and manual turbo is the A/R ratio.

Plus the stock injectors have like 100% duty cycle at that point anyhow, so not a great idea without a few upgrades.

I know in the US, guys run 20 PSI on stock wastegates (though not for very long haha), so I'm pretty sure the internal wastegate can handle 18 PSI.

R33k and Pex both run 17psi on there stock turbos/engines

US spec turbos are slightly lager btw.... you cannot hold the wastegates open on a auto past 14psi... they are simply not strong enough. talk 2 tom myself or scottie who have seen this realtime on the dyno.

but yes there is no point pushing stockers that far as you mentioned as both the turbos and the injectors are running out of puff by then

sorry forgot to mention its a manual tt .... not looking at upgrading though just replacing the wastegates cos they are looking a little worse for wear

You can just chuck on a spring to hold it open longer, it's a bit of a dodgy way to control boost though...

Don't you mean "hold the waste gates closed."

Haha yeah, oops. I dont recommend this method at all though, if the spring comes off you're in a bit of trouble! ;)
