Hey All, Just got my massive front mount delivered and had engine failure. The result means i have to sell my never even opened cooler to get my zed back on the road. I am looking for $750 for the cooler the piping and the mounting bracket. Here are the details: The size of the FMIC's that we will be getting is: 600mmx300mmx90mm with 2.5" end pipes Plenty of pics in the group buy section: Cheers, Tim BTW i am in Perth but will post
fmic dude bad luck about your zed mate, 750 is a bit steep as we all paid 625 delivered. just my 2 cents, gr8 cooler !!
if miksta decides he doesnt want it or something happens :LOL:i put my hand up to get it next if you deliver it for that price
Re: fmic Hey WazTTed, Yeah i can understand what you are saying about the cost. But i guess when you take into account i paid interest on my credit card for it for 4 months plus i am only selling at a profit to recoup mechanics costs then i feel ok with it i guess. Also not being a smart alec but i paid $630 for it as i paid for the mounting strip. Cheers, Tim
dude ah sorry mate didnt mean 2 flame, haha good luck with the sale, cooler is bloody gr8 now i just need my zed 2 be running again :angry::angry: hehe i paid 630 as well yeehaa. tell us more about your zed dramas, have u considered a rebuild with a pair of gt28rs?
im probably going to get flamed.. buttt what about the radiator? doesnt the fmic block it. sorry im a noob
Re: im probably going to get flamed.. buttt Oh STFU stupid noob!! j/k yeah it blocks the rad.. but you wont have any cooling issues.
Re: fmic sorry to hear about the dead engine:thumbsdown: $750 is a VERY fair price. I sold my extra FMIC for $850 GO FOR IT MATE!
Another noob Question, does it effect the pod filter as it wont be getting the air which it gets if its not blocked by the radiator? Also no heating issues at all? cheers jamez, ps: i hope you saved me one lol
For ultimate FMIC Relocated air pods (eg under headlights) or something like the UAS airbox for twin pods. If left in stock location, will still get air, but I dont think as fast or as cool. Upgraded radiator. (take your pick) Vented nose panel (between the headlights). This will give fresh air direct to radiator if you also have the air guide Radiator air guide Aftermarket front bar for bigger opening. Can also get a hard 'balance' pipe between the throttle bodies. I have never even been close to having an issue relating to heat, and doesn't matter if ambient temps are over 40 degrees, water temp barely gets to 90 degrees (of course in that weather i'm not boosting like crazy though) You dont have to do any of the above to have a FMIC (well I would strongly advise an aftermarket front bar with bigger opening), the above just gives you the greatest setup and negates most arguments relating to FMIC's
Re: dude No worries on the queries. It is a fair question and i am trying to be transparent with the sale. At the moment i had the standard zed overheat issues, which i noticed quickly due to some aftermarket temp gauges. Got the car to a mechanic, who has actually come to the conclusion that it was a loose rad cap (only 9 months old) that caused the over heat. Apperently my bi-monthly fluid checks contributed to the overheat. Talk about self fullfiling prophecy! Anywho he was just revving the engine and we both noticed a pro-nounced ticking noise only on over run. At this stage it is look like a big end bearing. OUCH. I am considering my options at the moment BUT finances will have a big say. I wish that a rebuild with some GT28's was on the cards! OH BTW i am really busy at work so i will reply to all PM's when i get a spare 5. Thanks for all the feedback guys.
I was aiming at 260rwkw for the time being would simply having a fmic without doing any other mods to the rad, afm etc have any downfalls? For bigger hp i know its better to get better rad, and reposition afm but for 260kw would it still be safe to do no other mods?
thanks for the usefull info guys only annoying thing is the pod filter but meh easily done. im now 200% sure i want this. hope i can get it before anyone else
Re: Is it a truck cut?? What core does it have?? No it's not a truck cut. It's a brank spanking new bar & plate design intercooler.
aK you are gonna have a hard time reaching 260rwkw if your only mod is intercooler. Stock turbos will be working really hard at those levels. Sure it might be doable but you're putting a bif load on wearable parts
i didnt mean 260 with just fmic, i meant it as in with all other mods 260kw whats better fmic or smic but i get what you mean lol
doing a smic vs fmic debate in this thread would be very UN-IDEAL.. as it would seem to be the general consensus that smic's are better for stock turbo equipped zeds.. but hey, in my opinion having a fmic on the zed will get you laid day in day out.. more group buy fmic pics i was getting laid just taking the pics for gods sake!! p.s give it to topher!:LOL:
