    Hi Martin,

    Welcome.

As many have said, there are well maintained cars and those that are not. An ill-maintained Zed, N/A or TT, will cost you lots to get up to spec. It's much cheaper (and a much more enjoyable overall experience) to pay a bit extra and get a well loved car in good condition. $11k IMO is enough to get a good N/A.

btw 2+2 will always be a targa top. You may want to consider the Australian released model (cheaper insurance) which was only released as a 2+2 N/A.

The a TT produces substantially more power than a N/A. Therefore it's components are under considerably more stress and should need attention sooner or more often.

Should you buy a N/A that has been well cared for, and if you are able to do a reasonable amount of maintenance yourself, your ongoing costs will be not significantly different to non-sports cars IMO, e.g. Commodores. Typically, Zeds require a lot more time to "create the room" to get to a component you want to work on. For example, to replace the A/C compressor, you need to removed the radiator and a number of other parts just to get at it. This said, there is always a right and logical way to do anything even if it's not always obvious.

If you choose to go down the Zed path, can I suggest that you become a friend of this forum, go to tech days, get your hands dirty, have a go and learn heaps etc etc. I have personally found this forum to be an invaluable source of enthusiasm, assistance and information. As a result, I have complete confidence to do many things now that 12 months ago I would have found fundamentally daunting.

I also like the culture of the folk here .... there are very few "wankers" (no disrespect intended to anyone). We all help eachother out. OK, enough soppy stuff. I wish you well whatever you choose.

    Cheers,

    Peter
