    Hi Guys,

I'm new to z's and have an NA Z32 I want to convert to turbo.

I've scored a pair of Greddy TD04's that are second hand and am considering using them for the upgrade. However I havn't been able to find any data on them at all.

The numbers on the turbo's are as follows:

    C39515

    49189-00610

    TD04H

They aparently came from a 400hp engine but i have no idea as to the remainder of the stats...

Is anyone else running these turbo's?

You can't just bolt turbos up to an NA

    Is that your intentions?
It would be cheaper to sell your NA and buy a TT, and then get the turbos upgraded.

Sorry should have been a little more clear. The engine will be stripped and have the rods and pistons upgraded to forgies for reliabity. The car will be driven 2-3 times a week most likely and i'm not aiming for over 425-450hp at the wheels.

I guess the main goal is realiability and drivability.

Are the greddy turbo's going to be laggy as hell, or will they come on boost really low and smoothly..?

i was advised against doing that because the engine wont last so i converted to a TT... buy a blown tt engine for $500 then get all teh internals strengthened and slap those turbo's on......... for an extra 500 for a blown engine?? why not? you can keep driving your na while it gets built too :zlove: :zlove: also icer has these turbo's... you might have to shoot him a PM

    this will be laggy

depending on how much boost your running too, but you wont hit full boost till about 5k. t04s are good on engines which are 3L, your trying to spool up a T04 with a 1.5L displacement.... you will get shiloads of power, but i would go for something slightly smaller to avoid the lag factor.

i havent experianced this for myself, but its just what id recommend, i prefer being on boost by like 3-4k and going strong till redline...

Buy a TT front cut, It will be much cheaper due to all the stuff you will need like intercoolers, piping, radiator etc. The TD-04's are olnly slightly bigger than stock and wont give much more power, I think Strom is confused as he is thinking of T-04's which are big laggy old school turbos.

This is pretty BIG power. Have a look around the forum some more and see how many cars are making 450hp (346kw) and what they've done to get there... it's not as easy as all that.

Also what will the compressoin be with TT heads on an NA?
Or are you going to use the NA and bolt on the turbo stuff? What will the compression be then?
NA compression with turbos is going to severly limit the amount of boost that you can safely run.

As others have suggested either get a TT and upgrade the engine or buy a halfcut and do the swap. This has it's advantages, the NA diff will give you faster acceleration not mention no HICAS to worry about.

    im with everyone here

you cannot slap turbos on the NA engines. Will set you back 10g's just for the engine work.

There are plenty of places where they sell dead TT engines. If in melb, Zshop in Glen Iris has many. They can sell you one. Slap your turbos on those and you are fine.

I run TD04's. Just got them installed. Bout to get the AVCR tuned so my baby is perfect today.

These get full boost at about 5500 and go out till 8000 (tested) (if you want to redline so hard)

They boost hard from 4500....but boy can you feel it. All i have is wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear. Now all my car needs....IS A GOOD DRIVER! LOL!

    Thanks for the advise guys.

Seems the general concensis is to get a turbo engine and go from there... I had just scored manifolds and turbo's but if there are other diferences.

Makes sense the cams are probably diferent too between the NA and the turbo engines...

I was "told" that the only diference was the pistons were diferent to make the NA engines compression higher than the turbo engine, and that all i'd need to do was put in some turbo forgies, rods, acl pistons, thicker metal head gaskets and some head and main stud ARP bolts... I realise its expensive but so is everything performance related.

From what research I managed to google on the TD04H's i found a NA-Twin turbo conversion kit that greddy released for abouyt $3500USD... These TD04H's are a significantly smaller compressor housing than the TD04's that are on the evo engines...

On another note I had them looked at today, and the wastegate is cracked on one, and the other has blown an oil seal so they are throw away's... I'm better off having a set of custom trimmed T25's made for the job according to the guy that is building my engine for me...

    i now have td04H turbos

they are high flows! They are great! Maxing out my engine though now that im 270-300+rwkw lol!

Need a dyno day now to see what im at...

After 4000rpm, mach 3 kicks in and before you know it you are goin over 180kmph....

    i need a 300kmph face ;/
