VIC GOR "exploration" day #1 - Sunday 11th Jan

( should allow the locals a sleepin..... and the those of us with a few extra K's to do an easier start to the day )

The aim of this run:
I'll be trying to advoid the actual GOR road itself leaving it for the soon to be announced GOR 2009 run although we will see the ocean
This run is to check out posiable inland routes to add to the main GOR run (much like the return run from last years GOR after the helipad visit).

I'll be visiting a proposed lunch venue that should have plenty of parking, good affordable meals with an "unusual tourist attraction too ... all at the one location. This spot may well provide a good location for a break from the Zed and the cruise and allow for a longer "social time" which we missed out on last year.

The idea is to find suitable roads that will tie into the GOR run either as a return route or the inital part of the GOR run ( IE: reverse running direction from last year ) .....

Estimated distance / time involved:
I dont expect to do anymore than 300K's in the area but due to the lower speeds & TWISTIES, the time factor may be several hours, I hope to return to the "starting point" no later than 6:00~ish
Basicaly ~300K's in 8 hours, Geelong to Geelong with a good midway break of ~2 hours ???



GOR "exploration" day #1:
this is the first run I plan prior to the actual GOR 2009, if needed "#2" may be held to double check all the details and/or to add re-align any issues Col & I may find in relation to the main run.
#2 will most likely be the actual GOR run in its entirety from Geelong onwards

This run's sole purpose is to benifit the yet to be announced GOR 2009 run and add extra supprises for those that attend it. As BigCol and I did last year, we will work closely together to ensure that GOR 2009 has everything for the ZX owner to truly enjoy on the day..... and yes the idea bouncing has started

This is the route i took from Apollo Bay on Saturday.
This strech of road i have marked is one of the best driving
roads i have experienced. Especially when you turn left after
Weeaproinal. Absolutely brilliant road.

NOT A RACE ........ I have a car show the following w/end so I cant afford the chance of getting a paint chip let alone 'another infringement notice".... & the last thing we need is for a zed to missout on the main run due to an offroad experiance.

The idea is simply to scout a few roads and check out their condition and see if they are suitable for everyone that attends the GOR run ...... both ....
experianced drivers that want a challenging road
AND
novices with a featherweight foot !

The end route thats chosen ....
HAS TO SUIT ALL CAPABILITIES !




Basically I want to try some roads I havent been on for awhile, have lunch at a potential venue, and have an inexpensive day out with some fellow zedders.


I'm not even going to look at a map prior to this run..... the map will come out at the meet up point and we as a group will simply go exploring to see whats out there

this seems a sad reflection of how many zeds will actually make a 300km trip in Vic lol

i got work on at 5ish so im not 100% yet

 

i'm a no for this so far. Want to suss out my oil leak (it's cam covers but i don't have any gaskets on me for a plenum pull) before doing a big run as this is a long way for me. Hopefully i'll be right for the GOR cruise

i had my practice during the week catching a seagull(that shit on Kathys zed),i hope to have better luck on the gor beaches lol
