Everyone seems to like the 8th so I am happy with that.

ieshh 8th?? do you guys realise that is a long weekend. long weekend + coast ??? esp the great ocean road ? it will be packt. yes i understand people will be travelling there and back on or before the sunday but that is when everyone will be touring around esp for a drive on the great ocean road....

not to mention i can gaurentee other clubs/forums will definatly be cruising the g.o.r on the long weekend.

personally i think it would be packt. but either way if u do go with it im in.....

the 22nd march sounds so much of a better quiter weekend to do it on...

maybe the long weekend would be better suited for a tech day??? then the cruise on the 22nd march

but ye like i said if majority wants the 8th then kool :)

anything in feb or march should be fine for me but im not keen on doing it on a long weekend. I live down here, the traffic will be ridiculous.

    FUEL AVAILIBILITY......

On a recent run to Torquay Col found that the BP we 'normaly' fuel up at has been closed down.... on a 2nd run there he's given me the below info....

Thanks for the heads up Col
    ;)

At this stage I doubt fuel will be an issue, so long as you have a fullish tank at Torquay you will make it back to Geelong before needing to refuel for your trip home.

I have no issues using Caltex fuel...

I have used their 98 ron fuel on occasion without any ill effects....

i use Caltex 98 mostly anyway so doesn't bother me

theres a shell servo in Anglesea that sells ultimate, price is same as in geelong so generally cheaper than buying in melbourne.
Heaps of parking on the side of the road or a few hundred metres away at the main beach carpark.

Otherwise BP in Lorne, shell & mobil in apollo bay.

    cheers, Tim

bp in lorne is way tooo small for all of us, and is on the wrong side of the road...could coz a mix up, and prices there is expensive, the one in apollo bay is alright if we are stopping there, but by the looks of it we're not, so it has to be before lorne...isnt there a bp in point danger near the first pit stop????...or some sort of fuel servo? if im correct?...i reakon that would be the best spot, atleast that should last us till the return leg through apollo bay....but like i said lorne IMHO is not good for this cruise, not with our numbers anyway.

I don't mind, just set a date and I'll hope I can get it off..But I would prefer not to go down on the long weekend..and hopefully my zed wont be multi-coloured

nah thats the one BADZX & Col are talking about, they've bulldozed it.

I agree though Lorne's not a real good option, the anglesea shell servo is also on the opposite side of the road but at least there's a lot of room for everyone to pull over either in single file on the roadside or into one of a couple decent sized carparks.

otherwise top up in geelong or the safeway/caltex in torquay.

looks like the majority of people are ok with the 8th...i rekaon the earlier the date is set the more easier it would be for everyone to organise...but i will leave it for kingy or col to choose.

You, the members are being given the oportunity to choose the date, after all its YOUR RUN !

A date will be set on this comming Sunday whether it suits everyone or not.... but the more ppl that have a say the better the chances that you'll get a date that suits the vast majority

    at the moment ......
March 15th is in the lead .... ONLY JUST

There IS the option of doing a poll...... ;)
    (2nd time I've hinted that )

Personaly... the 15th suits me the best, most tourists will be absent from the GOR leaving clearer roads and less agrivation to deal with, also means less hassel finding carparking spots ect etc &....... Big road hogging Buses should be elsewhere !
    ;)

but its YOUR choice..... till Sunday night !
    ;)

At this stage of the game Fuel shouldnt be a concern.....

My zed uses more than most, actually A LOT MORE :D
I can do the planned run on the one tank geelong - geelong with some spare.......

We pass through Lorne twice
on the way out, the servo is on the opposite side of the road.......
on the way back its on the same side as us !

The other thing I plan to do this year is provide a detailed running sheet / map for the events course, a few had to ring me last year during the run and ask for directions, hopefully a course running sheet will allow ppl to drop off the route for whatever reason and easily rejoin without any confusion leaving them to play a little catch up.

So you shouldnt be worried about fuel....
You shouldnt be concerned about getting lost.....
    but
you should be focused on getting a date !

    :D

  20. RedZedMikey

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    I vote the 15th 15th 15th 15th ....
See, even my echo votes for the 15th! Ellie-the-dog barked 15 times; RedZed bumped her idle speed up to 1515rpm, and Cameron Diaz said the 15th was the only day she could be my PSA. Actually I think she muttered the "the 15th day after hell freezes over" dammit.

Still that makes 5 more votes for the 15th in my book :D:D:D.

I want RedZed2 to go for some spray work and a diff upgrade before Warwick, so I will try to work around whatever date is chosen, but the weekend before the Nats (4/5 April) and the GP weekend (28/29 March) are absolute non-attendance dates for me.
