    Hi Guys,

I've got a bit of a dilemma with my manual gearbox shifter, my car has been running perfectly until just before, I went for a drive and as I reversed out of my driveway all was well, then I went to put the car in first to drive off and it wouldn't go in, I tried the other gears and the shifter just didn't want to take any gear, I kept rolling back a bit and eventually had to semi force it into first.

Now as I drive it changes gears perfectly however when I stop at a red light it will sporadically not want to click into first or second and have to be sort of forced in, I remember reading on here a while ago that there is a mount that can sometimes fail but from memory that only either affected gears 1,3,5 or 2,4,R my problem seems to affect all gears or at least both sides up and down......

Anybody have any clue as to what might have gone wrong?

Cheers for any input in advance :)

Your shifter hasn't dropped/lowered slightly has it?

what Zeo is saying is that it might be your selector...

not sure if its common but it doses happen there is a pin (or something) that has an issue, it can be replaced easy.

you should be able to do a search on it... good luck

Oh, and the alternatives aren't as good.... clutch or gearbox... :)

If you switch off the engine does it select/go into all the gears freely?

    Update

A bit of an update after driving the car this morning, the shifter definitely hasn't dropped and when the car is off it is selecting gears freely, the problem when it happens seems to be engaging first when I'm going relatively slow or completely stopped and it also seems to click into second gear from first or click out from second into first compared to more freely engaging gears 3,4,5 and R. The clutch also feels fine and there is no strange noises coming from the box when i drive.

I'm going to say shifter bushings, stock are prone to wearing out and causing difficulty in shifting - grab some bronze bushings from CZP or ebay and be done with it.

If you havnt changed the shifter Ide say the clutch may need a bleed.
