hey lads, just wondering if the gearbox is supposed to be serviced, how often? what is involved?

because the centre console around the gearstick gets hot when im going through the twisties, which is fine BUT lately its been getting really hot for just general daily driving for 10min.

    not sure why???????

    Any help lads.

    Probably due for service.

Gearboxes definately need servicing (ie fluid changes, gaskets general health check etc...).

Find a reputatable transmission specialist and book it in for a service OR D-I-Y if you have the know-wots ;)

Had mine done to fix a leak and is still good as gold after 1year/20'000kms

    Cheers

sounds like one of the heat boots has come loose

You will need to remove the stereo surround, the bit in front of the centre console, the gear knob and the gear boot and then put the rubber boots back where they belong to keep the heat out.
