The cam gears, and crank are all lined up at the right spot's.

Yet when I fit the timing belt the indicated timing mark lines on the belt don?t line up.

Should this be of any real concern?

Some shocking news but, never pay NISSAN to work on your car haha, previous owner had 100K carried out by Nissan, and when i lined up all the marks to take the old belt off.
the CRANK was 3 or 4 teeth out, every thing else was spot on.

And miss-matched Intake Cam Gears?? WTF

    SCARY ! :zlove:

    Check this

Count the number of teeth between all the sprockets and if they are right, and if the cam gears and crank are lined up you should be ok.

if it was me that was fitting it i would wanna be 100% sure so I would take it back off and line it up side by side with the original belt and mark it where they are on the original but thats me and i think that would be the best way to be safe

    And did you make

Sure that number one cylinder is at top dead centre on its compression stroke before you removed the old belt?

so now u got 2 Z's off the road? :)

the gears and crank marks need to line up with the timing belt marks, the ones on the back cover are just a guide to help you get started but would be a bit of a concern if they're off by more than a couple of teeth.

that intake cam gear looks funky, I'd be wanting to switch it out.. you sure about it being 3-4 teeth out? that crank sprocket mark was practically invisible on mine, check it's 10 teeth to the right of the woodruff key to be sure.

    *shakes head at scotty* NOOB!!!!!!

you should be ashamed.. :D :D

    as per msn

check timing belt against service manual (someone else was kind enough to post pic.. pg 18 of engine mech section anyway)

if timing belt correct.. then use lines of belt and dots on gears ONLY as the guide.. the ones on the back of the timing covers are there for a guide only.. all dots and lines will never line up no matter how hard you try..

    remember boys and girls

BELT AND GEARS ONLY..

    Sounds like mine

Everything lined up belt -> gears but was off by a tooth on the passenger side exhaust cam gear. So i made sure everything was lined up on the belt to the gears .

So.. when you've got time wanna come help me get mine working this weekend ;) hehe :)
